Dead Rising 3 should be developed by Blue Castle Games, says Capcom

Postad bild

Dead Rising 3 should be made by Blue Castle Games, says creator Keiji Inafune in a new interview.

Speaking to IGN, the game designer has stated that he had such a positive experience working with Blue Castle Games on Dead Rising 2, that they would be his choice to work on a third game. If a third one was green light of course (we’ll see after Dead Rising 2 releases on September 28th).

Dead Rising 3: Capcom talks digital 'bridge'

Capcom has told CVG that Dead Rising 3 is likely to directly continue the narrative of its hugely successful predecessor - and that another digital 'prologue' is all but guaranteed.

Capcom were handsomely rewarded by gamers for experimenting with Xbox 360-exclusive digital 'episodes' around the release of the excellent DR2 in September.

A 'prologue', Case Zero, introduced players to new hero Chuck Greene, whilst an 'epilogue', released after the main game, reintroduced original protagonist Frank West back into the fold.

The publisher has confirmed that Case Zero enjoyed over 500,000 downloads via Xbox Live.

Being careful not to confirm any story details, Capcom COO David Reeves told CVG that more digital releases are almost a dead cert - and will "bridge a link" between Case Zero and Dead Rising 3.

"Obviously, with all of that success on Dead Rising 2, it makes sense to move onto Dead Rising 3," said Reeves. "I think that they [developer Blue Castle Games] may extend it by bringing in new characters and new interactions, or bring back others from before.

"The idea would be that we'll bring digital content to bridge a link between DR2 and DR3. It's a bit like an online game in that way - a continuous story. I don't want to say episodic, but I think you'll be find there'll be scriptwriters coming in to [continue the story]."

In September, Capcom announced that it intended to acquire DR2 co-developer Blue Castle.

Look out for our full interview with former PlayStation boss David Reeves - in which the industry veteran casts an expert eye over the future of video games consoles - very soon.

Dead Rising 3 Will Continue the Story of Chuck Greene

Capcom COO David Reeves has revealed that the storyline of Dead Rising 2 is likely to be continued in Dead Rising 3, and that digital episodes will almost certainly be released to bridge the link between the two games. In an interview with CVG, here is what Reeves said:

"Obviously, with all of that success on Dead Rising 2, it makes sense to move onto Dead Rising 3. I think that [developer Blue Castle Games] may extend it by bringing in new characters and new interactions, or bring back others from before.

The idea would be that we'll bring digital content to bridge a link between DR2 and DR3. It's a bit like an online game in that way - a continuous story. I don't want to say episodic, but I think you'll be find there'll be scriptwriters coming in to [continue the story]."

Capcom successfully released a 'prologue' to Dead Rising 2 which was called Case Zero. Case Zero introduced players to the new features of the game. Case Zero was downloaded over 500,000 times. An 'epilogue', titled Dead Rising 2: Case West, was also announced in September, with the original protagonist Frank West returning to the narrative.

Dead Rising 2: Case West has not got a confirmed release date yet.

Lite semi-ny info

Dead Rising 3 brings zombies to the fictional town of Los Perdidos, California. After the zombie outbreak, the town is locked down and under martial law. No one can leave, but Rick and a group of survivors have other plans.

That’s concept art for Rick, the lead character in Dead Rising 3 on the right. He’s an orphan and works as an auto mechanic. When the zombie apocalypse breaks our Rick is unsure of himself, so he isn’t the same kind of character like Frank West. His plan is to restore a plane and escape Los Perdidos before a bomb goes off and destroys the already ruined city. As a player, getting the plane to fly is one of your main goals.

One interesting tidbit a source tells Siliconera, is Dead Rising 3 has an undercurrent of themes about illegal immigration. Another character called Red leads an underground group of "illegals," which are infected people that aren’t registered by the government. Annie, Red’s girlfriend is a runaway that’s sympathetic to the infected. While some survivors are helpful, others went berserk. One of the psychopaths you fight is a biker gang member who drives a "Roller Hog" – that’s a motorcycle with a steam roller attached to the front.

Phenotrans is at the center of the story. There’s a reason why Los Perdidos had a zombie outbreak and it’s a power play for the organization. Players will see Marian Mallon and a new bad guy named General Hemlock who kidnaps an important leader.

New information surfaced on April 30 via NeoGAF which suggests that Capcom is developing a new entry to the “Dead Rising” series. According to the LinkedIn and a couple other profile pages of Alessandra Merz, a Brazilian voice actress, it seems that “Dead Rising 3” is well underway in development.

Her profile on Voices.com shares:
Dubbing Games (Fable The Journey, Dance Central 3, Dead Rising 3 and Red Mercury)[/indent]
As you may recall, the title was leaked in Jan. when it was revealed that Blur Studio had finished a trailer for “Dead Rising 3.” However, Capcom has yet to make any official announcement about a new entry to the “Dead Rising” series though there is now enough evidence to suggest the game is in development.

With E3 2013 right around the corner, there is a high probability of Capcom announcing “Dead Rising 3” during the event. Whether the title will be released on current generation consoles – PS3, Xbox 360 – or next-generation hardware – PS4, Wii U, or Durango – is unknown.
Hopefully we get an official confirmation soon.
