In a recent interview, Rob Thomas, the creator of TV series 'Veronica Mars' makes public the fact that he is working on a big screen version of the teen drama show starring Kristen Bell.

Screenwriter Rob Thomas has stayed true to his words on the big screen treatment for "Veronica Mars". Having claimed earlier that he will develop the series for a movie as soon as he has time, the "Cupid" creator confirmed to iF Magazine that he is working on the film project now that his new series order has been reduced.

"That means I have time to write the VERONICA MARS movie," he said explaining the advantage of the cut down of the series order. "But my writing the movie is half the battle. Someone else has to pay for it. Joel Silver does have a certain pile of money. He called on me saying 'Can we do this now?' Kristen [Bell] wants to do it. Joel wants to do it and I want to do it. For me, that's the next project."

On the storyline, the 43-year-old confessed that he's been struggling to figure out one point on the plot. "...it's 70 percent broken in my head," he stated. "I've been struggling with this one plot point and I'm hopeful to figure that out. I watched the final episode of the series a few weeks ago and there were a lot of gaps and the plotting for the original came to me. I mean for the movie, I'm feeling like I'm on the right track now. But I don't want to give that away yet."

Furthermore, he dished on the possibility of Mars ending up at the F.B.I. "The one thing that I will say is where it will pick up," Thomas explained. "I know we did that F.B.I. 'what if' thing, but we would not go to that place. I think it would open just days before the Hearst College Graduation. So Veronica would be sort of at the end of her college career."

A "Veronica Mars" update has been thrown in by series creator Rob Thomas. Having rejected the rumored plot that Kristen Bell's Veronica Mars may end up at the F.B.I. earlier, the 43-year-old told Entertainment Weekly that he is prepping to pitch the feature film project to Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver.

"I'm preparing the pitch now - literally now," Thomas revealed his plan on Monday, February 9. "I hope to go in and talk to [executive producer] Joel Silver and [Warner Bros.] in the next week or two to see if they're interested."

While sharing out his pitching plan, the screenwriter noted that he is still working on the script. "I haven't figured it out yet," he said of the end plot. "That's what I'm working on now. It's close. A few key details left to solve."

Meanwhile, on the hurdles he has to go through for this movie, Thomas acknowledged, "I have some fear that Veronica Mars fans believe that the chief hurdle in getting the movie made is my writing it. Unfortunately, that's only one of several hurdles. I'm going to give it my best shot and let the chips fall where they may."

"It's entirely possible I won't have an answer at the end of the pitch," he further continued. "They will want to consider [the pitch], look at some numbers - whatever it is people on the business side do - and then they'll give me some sort of response. Then, if they want to move forward, there's the deal-making that'll need to go on."

När tv-serien ”Veronica Mars” slutade startade ryktet om att serien med Kristen Bell skulle bli film.
Men sedan dödförklarades projektet och det verkade som att filmen aldrig skulle bli av.
"Veronica Mars"-filmen är inte verklighet ännu men nu dementerar seriens skapare Rob Thomas i en intervju med Entertainment Weekly att projektet absolut inte är nedlagt.
- Jag vill fortfarande göra den och jag ser fram emot det, säger han i intervjun.
Och att det inte kan dröja allt för lång tid är han själv medveten om, eftersom den tonåriga huvudkaraktären Veronica Mars spelas av den 29-åriga Kristen Bell.
- Det finns en tickande klocka, Kristen Bell kommer ju fortsätta att bli äldre, säger han.

It's been over three years since Veronica Mars has gone off the air and since that time, all Kristen Bell has done is champion for a big screen release.

The problem is, Warner Bros. holds the rights to the franchise and despite the constant pleading and begging from fans Kristen, they still haven't forged ahead with a movie or relinquished control of the rights.

Yesterday, Kristen decided to channel her inner Gossip Girl and blast the Internet to get some supporters. On her Twitter, she posted:

"Mars fans-can we bug @wbpictures & tell em they must do a VM film?? new tactic. bombard em w/tweets, there's evidence of fans they cant ignore.

#veronicamars fans send petitions & any obsessive behavior you have to @wbpictures & demand the film. they see no audience for it? i beg to differ."

It's so unlike a star to be the one fighting for her TV show to go to the big screen that we really hope she gets it done. Maybe it won't make a billion dollars, but when will a studio ever get this kind of dedication from an actress to a project again?

Francis Capra latest actor to return for 'Veronica Mars' feature film



Another day, another 'Veronica Mars' alum back in the fold.
Over the weekend, news leaked that Percy Daggs III and Chris Lowell had signed on for duty in the Kickstarter-funded feature film. The film is in preproduction.
Creator Rob Thomas emailed contributors to the Kickstarter campaign yesterday, revealing the news that Francis Capra had also agreed to return.
Capra played Eli "Weevil" Navarro in the series, which aired on UPN and later The CW before it ended in 2007. Navarro led the PCH Biker gang and was a friend of Veronica's on the series. The character appeared in all 64 episodes during the series' three-year run.
"Playing a wrong-side-of-the-tracks kid in a town full of privileged peers, Francis found a terrific -- and difficult -- balance between tough and soulful," said Thomas in his email. "I couldn't be happier that he'll be back with us for the film."
