Pack your bags for Wally World, kids. New Line, which these days is a subsidiary of Warner Brothers, are developing a new National Lampoon's Vacation movie.
The idea is that it will focus on Rusty Griswold, son of Chevy Chase's Clark. Rusty is now a father himself, on an unspecified family vacation of his own. No deals have been struck yet, but there will reportedly be "room" for chase and his screen wife Beverly D'Angelo to appear as the Griswold grandparents. Which, frankly, makes us feel very old. But means, if it happens, this will be both a sequel and a reboot: rather like putting Leonard Nimoy in the new Star Trek, although National Lampoon's Tangential Parallel Universe Vacation might be stretching the formula.

New Line is moving forward with their reboot of the Griswold family Vacation franchise originally starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo.
In October 2009, the Warner Bros-based studio hired David Dobkin (The Wedding Crashers) to produce and possibly direct a sequel/restart that would focus on a now adult Rusty Griswold bringing his own family on a vacation.
Variety is reporting that Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Sam Weir on “Freaks and Geeks”) have been brought in to write the script. While they’ll acknowledge the adventure depicted in 1983, the characters are taking a new trip to Wally World, this time before the fictional amusement park closes forever.
Chase and D’Angelo are not involved, though New Line hopes to sign them for small roles as the grandparents. No deals for them are in place.
