Trophy Wife
They say the third time’s the charm, and reformed party girl Kate (Malin Akerman) is hoping that’s true when she becomes Pete’s (Bradley Whitford) third wife. She fell into his arms (literally) at a karaoke bar, and a year later Kate’s got an insta-family, complete with three stepchildren and two ex-wives. Diane (Marcia Gay Harden) is ex-wife number one, an intense, over-achieving doctor and the mother of twin teenagers Hillary (Gianna LePera) and Warren (Ryan Scott Lee). Diane is quick to convey her withering disapproval of Kate’s barely tapped maternal instinct. Ex-wife number two, Jackie (Michaela Watkins), is mother to adopted son Bert (Albert Tsai), and can pull Pete’s strings with her special blend of neurotic, new-ageyness. Juggling all this baggage is uncharted territory for Kate, who finds support with her best friend Meg (Natalie Morales), a party-hearty singleton and the only woman Kate knows who has less experience with kids than she has.
Back in The Gane
Back in the Game. Terry Gannon Jr. (Maggie Lawson) was an All Star Softball player until life threw her a couple curve balls: a baby, a lost college scholarship and a loser for a husband. After striking out on her own, Terry and her son Danny (Griffin Gluck) move in with her estranged father, Terry Sr. aka "The Cannon" (James Caan). The Cannon is an opinionated, beer-guzzling, ex-athlete who never quite made the cut as a single father or professional baseball player. As hard as Terry tries to keep Danny away from the sports-driven lifestyle of her youth, Tommy wants to play Little League. His stunning lack of baseball skills (he doesn't even know which hand the mitt goes on) makes him the laughing stock of the baseball field and his grandfather's living room. When Danny and a group of other athletically-challenged hopefuls fail to make the team, Danny's disappointment forces Terry to face her past. So when a wealthy neighbor volunteers to finance a team for the rejected kids, Terry reluctantly offers to coach the team of misfits. “Back In The Game” stars Maggie Lawson (“Psych”) as Terry, Jr., James Caan (“Las Vegas”) as Terry "The Cannon" Gannon, Sr., Lenora Crichlow (“Being Human,” “Fast Girls”) as Gigi, Griffin Gluck (“Private Practice”) as Danny, Ben Koldyke (“Big Love”) as Dick, Kennedy Waite (“I-Doll”) as Vanessa, J.J. Totah (“Jessie”) as Michael, Cooper Roth as David. “Back In The Game” was written by Mark and Robb Cullen (“Lucky,” “Las Vegas”), who also executive produce along with directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (“Bad Santa,” “Crazy, Stupid, Love”) and Aaron Kaplan (“The Neighbors”). “She's Got Game” is from 20TH Century Fox Television/Kapital Entertainment.
Super Fun Night
Junior attorney Kimmie Boubier (Rebel Wilson) and her two best friends, Helen-Alice (Liza Lapira) and Marika (Lauren Ash), have had a standing date every Friday night for the last 13 years. They even have a motto for what they call “Friday Night Fun Night”: “Always together! Always Inside!” However Kimmie’s recent promotion throws a monkey wrench into the tradition. Not only is she now working with her idol, “Lady Lawyer of the Year” Felicity Vanderstone (Kelen Coleman), but she meets a dashingly handsome British attorney, Richard Lovell (Kevin Bishop), who invites her to his party at a trendy club. Determined to spend time with Richard and heed Felicity’s advice to network, Kimmie sets out to convince her friends to take Super Fun Night on the road.
Mixology
One bar. One night. Ten single people. Welcome to Union, a high-end bar in Manhattan’s trendy meat-packing district. Recently dumped by his fiancée, Tom (Blake Lee) hasn’t been out on the town in a decade. His best friends, handsome, confident Cal (Craig Frank) and fast-talking Bruce (Andrew Santino), are throwing Tom back into the dating pool whether he likes it or not. Tom’s first encounter is with Maya (Ginger Gonzaga), an attorney who’s as beautiful as she is brutal; before long, Tom is in tears. After that, it only gets worse. Rounding out Union’s chic crowd is Maya’s engaged-for-now friend, Liv (Kate Simses); aggressive single mom Jessica (Alexis Carra); her younger, naive sister, Janey (Sarah Bolger); bubbly cocktail waitress Kacey (Vanessa Lengies); dark, mysterious bartender Dominic (Adan Canto); and failed internet entrepreneur Ron (Adam Campbell), who’s having the worst night of his life.
The Goldbergs
Before there were parenting blogs, trophies for showing up, or peanut allergies, there was a simpler, awesome time called the '80s. For geeky 11-year old Adam (Darien Provost) these were his wonder years and he faced them armed with a video camera to capture all the crazy. The Goldbergs are a loving family like any other, just with a lot more yelling. Mom Beverly (Wendi McClendon-Covey, BRIDESMAIDS) is a classic "smother"; an overbearing, overprotective matriarch who rules this brood with 100% authority and zero sense of boundaries. Dad Murray (Jeff Garlin, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM) is a gruff, hot-tempered father who is learning how to parent without screaming after a recent health scare... and having little luck. Sister Erica (Hayley Orrantia) is 17, hot, terrifying and not one to mess with. Barry (Troy Gentile) is 16, a grade A spaz with a classic middle child syndrome. Adam is the youngest, a camera-wielding future director who's crushing on an older woman, 15 year-old Zoe. Rounding out the family is beloved grandfather Al "Pops" Solomon (George Segal), the wild man of the clan, a shameless Don Juan who's schooling Adam in the ways of love. When Pops buys a new sports car and offers his Caddy to middle child Barry, it's enough to drive this already high-strung family to the brink of chaos. From Adam Sandler's production company HappyMadison, directed by Seth Gordon (IDENTITY THIEF, HORRIBLE BOSSES) and inspired by writer and Executive Producer Adam F. Goldberg's (BREAKING IN, FANBOYS) own experiences growing up as the youngest child in a highly screwed-up but loving family comes a hilarious new comedy, THE GOLDBERGS.

About A Boy
Based on the best-selling Nick Hornby novel, written/produced by Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood) and directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Revolution) comes a different kind of coming-of-age story. Will Freeman (David Walton) lives a charmed existence as the ultimate man-child. After writing a hit song, he was granted a life of free time, free love and freedom from financial woes. He's single, unemployed and loving it. So imagine his surprise when Fiona (Minnie Driver), a needy, single mom and her oddly charming 11-year-old son Marcus (Benjamin Stockham of 1600 Penn) move in next door and disrupt his perfect world. When Marcus begins dropping by his home unannounced, Will's not so sure about being a kid's new best friend, until, of course, Will discovers that women find single dads irresistible. That changes everything and a deal is struck: Marcus will pretend to be Will's son and, in return, Marcus is allowed to chill at Will's house, play ping-pong and gorge on steaks, something his very vegan mom would never allow. Before he realizes it, Will starts to enjoy the visits and even finds himself looking out for the kid. In fact, this newfound friendship may very well teach him a thing or two that he never imagined possible — about himself and caring for others. Also starring are Al Madrigal (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and Anjelah N. Johnson-Reyes (Our Family Wedding).
Family Guide
It's not every family that's brought closer together by divorce... but then again, the Fishers aren't exactly typical. Take Mel Fisher, for example. Whether it's chopping down trees, showing his daughter how to drive or playing football with his son, he's never let the fact that he's blind slow him down.
Then there's Joyce Fisher, possibly the only mom in Pasadena to smoke a pipe. For her, divorce is like a second coming of age, a chance to be the teen she never was. Just ask her '80s-obsessed teenage daughter Katie, whose clothes she's always borrowing (that is, when Mom's not tagging along with Katie to the mall).
At the center of all this is Henry, the Fishers' 11-year-old son. Having always been his dad's eyes, ears and wingman, Henry's less than thrilled when Mel shows up with Elvis, a guide dog... which is also how Henry learns about the pending divorce. Awkward. While reluctant to the changes this "big ball of fur" would bring, it's through an Adult Henry's voice-over (Jason Bateman) that we find out his parents' split would "allow all of us to finally discover... who we needed to be."
Sean Saves The World
Sean (Sean P. Hayes, "Will & Grace") is a divorced gay dad who juggles a lot - his successful but demanding career, offbeat employees, pushy mom Lorna (Linda Lavin, "Alice") and weekends with his teenage daughter, Ellie (Sami Isler). So when she moves in full-time, it's a whole new world. Never one to do anything halfway, Sean's intent on being the best dad ever, so he loads up on parenting how-to books and plans Pinterest-worthy family dinners. But it seems his company's new owner has decided Sean and his team should work longer hours, putting a damper on his homemaking plans and throwing a kink in Sean's perfectly constructed work/life balance. Ellie sees this development as a plus. She loves her dad, but he's clearly going overboard. From keeping his boss happy, employees motivated and enduring his mother's tactless "advice" to raising a smart, grounded and healthy kid, it's going to be a growing experience, to say the least. But if anyone can handle it all, it's Sean. Thomas Lennon ("Reno 911"), Lindsay Sloane ("Weeds") and Echo Kellum ("Ben and Kate") also star. Writer Victor Fresco ("Go On," "Mad About You"), director James Burrows ("Friends," "The Big Bang Theory"), Sean P. Hayes ("Hot in Cleveland," "Grimm") and Todd Milliner ("Hot in Cleveland," "Grimm") serve as executive producers. "Sean Saves the World" is a production of Universal Television and Hazy Mills Productions.
Undateable
When confident slacker Danny Beeman (Chris D'Elia) takes Justin (comedian Brent Morin) on as a roommate, Danny unwittingly inherits Justin's group of romantically challenged friends. Seeing himself as the ultimate player, Danny decides to teach the crew (who he dubs "The Undateables") everything he knows about "the game of love." For their first lesson, Danny takes the guys to an event hosted by his sister, Leslie (Bianca Kajlich), who is a single mom with dating difficulties of her own. At first, Danny's advice seems to pay off big-time: The shy guy talks to a girl, the no-filter dude learns it's never OK to ask a woman when she's due, and his nebbish roommate, Justin, goes home with a mystery woman. It's not until the next day that they figure out it was Leslie! Talk about a bunch who just can't get lucky! From the executive producers of "Cougar Town" comes a hilarious new comedy about the "do's," "don'ts" and "duhs" of dating. From Emmy-nominated executive producer Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Cougar Town).

But now that she is 10, her powers have become stronger, and the threat has grown more dangerous. With her life and future now in jeopardy, the "Believers" turn to the only person they see fit to be her full-time protector. That is, once they break him out of jail. Tate, a wrongfully imprisoned death row inmate who's lost his will, is initially reluctant – until he witnesses one of her extraordinary abilities. Bo sees people for who they truly are… and who they may become. Tate and Bo begin their journey, one in which trust must be earned. The powers of a young girl may hold the fate of our world in Believe, from executive producer J.J. Abrams (Revolution, Star Trek: Into Darkness) and executive producer/writer/director Alfonso Cuarón (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Children of Men).
Crisis
From writer/producer Rand Ravich (Life, The Astronaut's Wife) and starring Dermot Mulroney (The Grey, My Best Friend's Wedding), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, Hannibal), Lance Gross (Tyler Perry's House of Pain, The Last Fall) and Rachael Taylor (Transformers, Red Dog) comes an emotionally charged, action thriller. It's field trip day for the students of Ballard High School, a place that educates the children of Washington, DC's elite, top-of-their-industry CEOs, international diplomats, political power players and even the president's son. But when their bus is ambushed on a secluded rural road, the teenagers and their chaperones are taken, igniting a national crisis. Now with some of the country's most powerful parents at the mercy of one vengeful mastermind, the question arises: How far would you go and what would you become to ensure your child's safe return? With so many parents and dignitaries put into play with nowhere to turn and no one to trust, this unthinkable scenario grows from the select families at risk to an entire nation at stake.
Chicago PD
In this spinoff of Chicago Fire, District 21 of the Chicago Police Department is made up of two distinctly different groups. There are the uniformed cops who patrol the beat and go head to head with the city's street crimes. And there's the Intelligence Unit, the team that combats the city's major offenses – organized crime, drug trafficking, high profile murders and beyond. Leading the Intelligence team is Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), a man not against skirting the law in the pursuit of justice. Demanding and tough, only those who can take the heat survive under Voight's command. Take Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) – despite his troubled history with his boss, Dawson has ambitions of running the unit… so if that means facing off against Voight every day, he'll persevere. From the street cops with dreams of moving up to the elite crew who are already in, "life on the job" is a daily challenge. The enormous responsibilities that come with the territory take an emotional toll, as we'll find when we follow the personal lives of our characters outside the walls of District 21. From Emmy-winning producer Dick Wolf and the team behind Chicago Fire, comes Chicago PD, a gripping, character-driven new police drama about those who put it all on the line to serve and protect.
Ironside
In the gritty world of the NYPD, no one's tougher than Det. Robert Ironside (Blair Underwood). He's a fearless cop who won't stop until the guilty are brought to justice. He and his trusted, handpicked team of specialists — Virgil (Pablo Schreiber), Holly (Spencer Grammer) and Teddy (Neal Bledsoe), as well as his former partner Gary (Brent Sexton) and boss Det. Ed Rollins (Kenneth Choi) — will do whatever it takes to solve New York's most difficult and notorious crimes. As a detective, Ironside's instincts are second to none, and those around him have to stay on their toes if they want to keep up… because when his spine was shattered by a bullet two years ago, Ironside swore he'd never let a wheelchair slow him down. Nothing gets in his way. From executive producer-writer Michael Caleo (Rescue Me, The Sopranos).
FOX
Komedier:
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
This is the previously untitled single-camera ensemble comedy from Parks and Recreation writers/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur, starring Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, and Terry Crews as a diverse group of New York City police detectives who must adjust when a new "by-the-book" boss takes over. The pilot was directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the duo behind 21 Jump Street and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. The cast also features Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Chelsea Peretti, and Joe Lo Truglio.
Dads
From Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin, and Wellesley Wild — the "creatively outrageous" trio responsible Dadsfor FOX's Family Guy and last summer's hit comedy Ted — comes this multi-camera sitcom about two successful best friends (Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi) whose lives are upended when their fathers (Martin Mull and Peter Riegert) move in with them. At least it's a twist on the current favorite comedy concept of adult children moving back home with their parents. Originally granted a six-episode order, that request has been bumped up to 13. Tommy Dewey, Brenda Song, Tonita Castro, and Vanessa Lachey also appear.
Enlisted
An "irreverent and heartfelt" single-camera military family comedy from Cougar Town co-creator Kevin Biegel, Enlisted revolves around three very different brothers (Geoff Stults, Chris Lowell, and Parker Young) and the group of misfits surrounding them on a small Army base in Florida. Keith David and Angelique Cabral round out the cast.
Surviving Jack
Based on $#*! My Dad Says author Justin Halpern's semi-autobiographical followup I Suck At Girls, Surviving Jack is set in 1990s Southern California and tells the story of a man becoming a father while his son becomes a man at a time when "coming of age" wasn't something you could Google. In his first regular role since leaving NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Christopher Meloni anchors the show as titular father Jack and scored stellar testing results from focus groups, leading to the pickup. Initially reticent to join the project, Meloni had to be talked into accepting the offer to star and that effort has proven fruitful for the producers. The cast also includes Alex Kapp Horner, Connor Buckley, Claudia Lee, Kevin Hernandez, and Tyler Foden.
Us & Them
Adapted from the British series Gavin and Stacey, Us & Them follows a young couple in a long-distance relationship, played by Jason Ritter and Alexis Bledel, whose path to happiness together is complicated by the "screwed-up circus of people" closest to them. Those people include veteran stars Jane Kaczmarek and Kurt Fuller, as well as Kerri Kenney, Dustin Ybarra, and Ashlie Atkinson.
Out of this lineup, I am most looking forward to Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Surviving Jack, and Dads. The casting and creative teams on these new series show a lot of potential.
Drama:
Sleepy Hollow
wo other members of the dear departed Fringe's creative team, feature scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, have a new project of their own in Sleepy Hollow, a contemporary reimagining of the classic Sleepy HollowWashington Irving tale. Poised to be a breakout star, British actor Tom Mison stars as Ichabod Crane, resurrected and transported two and a half centuries into the future where he discovers a world on the brink of destruction. As humanity's last hope, Ichabod must join forces with a modern-day police officer (Nicole Beharie) to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to the founding fathers. Orlando Jones, Katia Winter, and John Cho round out the cast. Underworld director Len Wiseman helmed the pilot.
Rake
Based on the Australian series of the same name, Rake features Greg Kinnear in his broadcast television series debut as Keegan Deane, a brilliant and "frustratingly charming" criminal defense attorney whose self-destructive tendencies and tumultuous personal life often interfere with his professional life. Driven by stubborn optimism and a belief in justice, Keegan handles the cases that nobody else will touch with a relentless determination to defend those who, like himself, seem beyond redemption. Peter Duncan, creator of the original Australian series, created and wrote the American version. Feature film director Sam Raimi helmed the pilot and serves as executive producer. To repeat the midseason success of The Following, FOX may hold off until next winter to debut Rake.
Gang Related
This gritty action drama is one of the few toplined by a minority actor, starring Ramon Gang RelatedRodriguez as Ryan Lopez, a rising star in the elite Los Angeles Gang Task Force led by Sam Chapel, played by Lost veteran Terry O'Quinn. Lopez joins forces with longtime Task Force member Cassius Green (rapper/actor RZA) to combat three of the city's most dangerous gangs, including one he is connected with, forcing him to choose between loyalty to his old family or his new one. Jay Hernandez, Sung Kang, Inbar Lavi, Cliff Curtis, and Shantel VanSanten round out the regular cast.
Almost Human
From the Fringe team of J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman, Almost Human is an action-packed police drama set 35 years in the future in a world where members of the Los Angeles Police Department are paired with highly evolved human-like androids. Karl Urban stars as a respected cop with an aversion to robots who forges an unlikely connection with his partner, an android with unexpected emotional responses, played by Michael Ealy. The rest of the cast isn't too shabby either, featuring names like Lili Taylor, Mackenzie Crook, Michael Irby, and Minka Kelly.
