Galapagos & A Room With a View (HD) in October

Warner Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD release of two titles from the BBC on 2nd October 2007. Galapagos, a documentary on the Galapagos islands from the BBC and the National Geographic Channel is joined by the Oscar nominated Merchant Ivory title A Room With a View, an adaptation of E.M. Forster's novel, the film tells the story of the coming of age of Lucy Honeychurch (Helena Bonham-Carter). Julian Sands and Daniel Day-Lewis portray the men she must choose between whilst longing to burst free from the repression of British upper class manners.

Priced at $28.99 SRP each, specs are currently unknown though A Room With a View is listed as a Special Edition, so is likely to retain the bonus content from the two-disc DVD release.

Någon som sett Blood Diamond och vill uttala sig om kvaliteen osv?!

Jag såg den igår, och tyckte bilden var mkt fin för det mesta, kanske var lite inconsistent,
som har skrivits i vissa rescensioner, men dagsscenerna var mkt läckra och skarpa, inte
allas mjuka på något sett, lite HD pop då och då med i närbilder på ansikten osv, ser nog bättre ut
på mindre skärmar 42-55 tum än på 90 tums dukar kanske..

Filmen var otroligt bra i mitt tycke och skådespelarna var mkt Bra, bästa filmen jag sett
med Di Caprio helt klart han utvecklas mer o mera som skådis en klar favorit, Djimon Hounsou imponerade och Jennifer Connelly var otroligt läcker och Bra i denna film..

Mkt realistiska actionscener och ser fram emot att kunna utnyttja Dolby True HD vid
ett senare tillfälle då man ser om filmen med ny stärkare...

The big news for HD DVD fans, though, isn't the movie but the disc. Though I wasn't all that pleased with the identical video transfer shared by both editions, the audio is great and so are the standard-def supplements. But where the HD DVD clearly outdistances its rival is with a great IME track (featuring additional content not included in the Blu-ray) and Warner's first-ever web-enabled content on a next-gen disc. While 'Blood Diamond' may only scratch the surface in terms of what's technically possible on a next-gen disc, even as is, it's a real gem.

I thought that with a few exceptions the Warner Bros. engineers did a good job with the standard-definition transfer of the movie, and this HD DVD version holds up pretty well, too. The movie's dimensions, 2.35:1 in a theater, come across in my system at about 2.20:1, give or take some overscanning, the high-definition colors vivid and realistic, deep and rich, with excellent black levels. As in the SD edition, though, I noticed a small degree of roughness about the image, especially in more dimly lit scenes. Some of the graininess is perhaps intentional, but there are the occasional scenes where inner detailing is not always the best. The fact is, most of the film looks excellent, some outdoor, daylight shots looking spectacularly beautiful, while a few other shots, mostly dark ones, look a bit grainy and murky. By the time I finished the film, however, my overall impression was positive, impressed as I was mainly by the good. Call me an optimist.

En otroligt skarp och fin bild utan grynighet, smuts, blödningar i färger etc, otrolig svärta
som är stabil filmen ut otroliga färger då speciellt i alla mörka scener och i slutet
inne i stålverket magnifikt verkligen..

Närbilder på ansikten och Arnolds robotsargade ansikte ser mkt snyggt och detaljrikt ut..

ännu en gång en grym VC-1 produktion, vissa dagsscener kanske ser lite softa ut
men bilden är alltid stabil och detaljrik...

Ljudet är i särklass nog det bästa ljudspåret ja har lyssnat på hitills på HDDVD, med otrolig detaljrikedom och explosivitet, basen går för fullt hus och det låter från varenda högtalare hela tiden, lastbilsscenen i början och när Arnold gör rent hus med minikanonen mot alla poliser te x

vid en snabb jämförelse med Directors Cut tycktes ja nog hålla med om vad ja läst på
te x AVS forum att theatrical ser lite mer sharp ut, men en helhets titt behövs nog ändå..

Jämför ja med min fina Ultimate Edition steel case på reg 1 DVD, där alla 3 versionerna finns
med inkl extended special edition på 2,35, så är bild och ljud klart bättre, även om
DVD.n höll hög klass med, antar att HD mastern är gjord utefter den mastern ..

Såg precis Coming to America , aplängesen ja såg denna film, den är ju
så rolig och bra verkligen Eddie Murphy på toppen av sin karriär och
humor på hög nivå eller låg

Många sköna folk i bi rollerna speciellt de som Eddie Murphy och Arsenio själva gör *asg*

Bilden är ju otroligt fin på denna filmen precis lika fin som på Trading Places, med allt
smuts borttaget och otrolig skärpa med mkt detaljrikedom och färger är explosiva
Eddies Röda kavaj te x och allt annat färgglatt i Zumunda palatset, grynighet är inte
ens ett faktum och HD pop finns både 1 och 2 ggr...

Ljudet är också fint med en del tryck i, basen går igång på alla musik stycken
och dialogen är ren och klar i centern..

Bra med xtramaterial med, en rolig intervju med grabbarna
Hall och Murphy från 1989 om filmen mm

Amazon.com to Sell More Films in HD DVD

SEATTLE, July 1 (AP) — Amazon.com will begin selling high-definition independent films in the HD DVD format through its on-demand DVD printing service, the company said on Sunday.

The company said it would waive processing fees for the first 1,000 films it accepts for production by its CustomFlix Labs subsidiary.

The company currently offers more than 300 HD DVD titles for sale on its site, and more than 400 that use the competing Blu-ray DVD format championed by Sony.

The two formats have been battling since last year. Studios hope the high-definition discs, with sharper picture and more room for interactive special features and games, will replace standard-definition DVDs. Blu-ray and HD DVD formats are incompatible, and neither type of disc can play on a regular DVD player.

In June, Blockbuster decided it would rent only films in the Blu-ray format in 1,450 stores when it expanded its high-definition selection, dealing a blow to the HD DVD camp.

hehe warriors come out and playyyy, har inte sett den ännu i sin helhet men såg att den skiljer sig
från DVD.n, det är liksom serie tidningsrutor ibland som mynnar ut i verklighetsbilder och ibland
tillbaka till en serietidning ser coolt ut... fast inga längre stunder tror ja..

Damp ner saker här med, både från öst och väst.
Black Snake Moan från våra vänner på HDMovieSource samt Equlibrium från Japan.
Tyvärr sov flickvännen när budet med Equilibrium dök upp och hon var för yrvaken för att fatta att det var porttelefonen som väckte henne. Så nu sitter jag här med en AVI där det inte står var jag ska hämta mitt paket. Det var iallafall inte på det vanliga ICA. Där fick jag en utskällning av tanten i kassan för att det minsann inte var ett giltigt Kollinr.

Någon här som fått sina filmer skickad som EMS-försändelse och vet var man vanligtvis hämtar dessa?

Typiskt, då måste man beställa den filmen också.

Såg just Blood Diamond. Väldigt bra film. Får väl hålla med Bracke på Hidefdigest om bildkvalitén. Mycket fin i ljusa scener, speciellt i djungeln. Något grynig och blek i mörka scener. Mycket bra TrueHD-ljud. Marantzen går varm i actionscenerna!
