Here's a rough guide - bound to be holes and points that may not be clear.
Consider the scenario: ReadyNAS (e.g. NV+) with IP Address 192.168.1.100 hosts all media in a share called "media" - here's how to access that from a 2nd ReadyNAS (e.g. Ultra) with IP Address 192.168.1.200 running Plex
On the NV+
1. Enable the NFS service in Frontview >> Services
2. Ensure that NFS is enabled for the "media" share in Frontview >> Shares >> Share Listing
On the Ultra
1. Enable command line access to the ReadyNAS via the EnableRootSSH add-on available from http://www.readynas.com/addons
2. Once installed and the ReadyNAS is rebooted - connect via SSH
On Linux / OSX:
ssh root@192.168.1.200
(Password is the Frontview admin password)
3. Make an appropriate mount point for the NV+ share such as "/mnt/media". For example:
mkdir /mnt
mkdir /mnt/media
4. Test that the media share can be mounted
mount 192.168.1.100:/media /mnt/media
ls /mnt/media
(You should see the contents of your media share from the NV+)
5. Unmount the share
umount /mnt/media
6. Create a boot script /etc/rc2.d/S99mountmedia with the same mount command line so that the mount will occur automatically each time you power on the NAS
#!/bin/sh
mount 192.168.1.100:/media /mnt/media
(Either use vi to edit the file, or install an editor like nano with:
apt-get update
apt-get install nano
7. Make the script executable and test
chmod +x /etc/rc2.d/S99mountmedia
/etc/rc2.d/S99mountmedia
ls /mnt/media
Again you should see the media share of your NV+
8. Reboot the Ultra and test the share is mounted at boot time
9. Setup Plex on the Ultra with a library that references path /mnt/media
