Hemvideo distributören Twilight Time lägger ner.

After nine years of successful operations in which 380 motion pictures from the 1930s to the 2010s have been released on DVD and Blu-ray disc, the home video label Twilight Time founded by veteran Hollywood studio executives and filmmakers Brian Jamieson and the late, dearly celebrated Nick Redman, will not release any further titles and we will be winding down operations this summer. A changing market, the rising costs of title acquisitions and the passing of longtime partner and company spokesman Nick Redman, are key reasons for the closure.

Verkligen tråkigt. Deras koncept med isolerade ljudspår ger verkligen en särskild inblick i vilket lager som musik och ljud kan ge film. I vissa fall lärorikt på jämförbart vis med kommentatorsspår. Trots varierande kvalité på deras utgåvor har jag aldrig blivit besviken på dem.

Har ett par TT titlar men har aldrig testat att spela filmen med det isolerade ljudspåret så det måste jag testa på.

Vilka har du?

 

Mina favoriter av deras utgåvor är nog Chiisai Ouchi och The Eddy Dunchin Story. Även U Turn, Karios röda ros och The Buddy Holly Story är absolut värda att införskaffa om man får chansen. Ska dock kolla om jag kan beställa hem lite fler den närmsta tiden. När Screenarchives hade deras 7 för 70$-reor var det ganska lätt att hitta intressanta titlar.

SCREEN ARCHIVES ACQUIRES TWILIGHT TIME BACK CATALOG

 

May 14, 2020 -- Screen Archives Entertainment has reached an agreement with Twilight Time Movies to purchase the company’s extensive Twilight Time Movies inventory or back catalog effective July 1, 2020. The agreement ensures that the Twilight Time label will continue indefinitely, according to the principals. 

Screen Archives has served as the primary distribution partner to Twilight Time since its beginning, working with the late Nick Redman and co-founder Brian Jamieson. 

Jamieson, a veteran studio executive and filmmaker will continue to provide marketing expertise and support to Screen Archives during the transition.

Screen Archives president Craig Spaulding said, “Having worked with Brian and Nick over the years, we took this step because we have always enjoyed a good relationship with Brian (and Nick). We wanted to keep our relationship going and continue to capitalize on Brian’s years of expertise in the industry.

Screen Archives began in 1976 and has grown into a worldwide distributor of soundtracks, DVDs, and Blu-rays. No further details will be made available until after July 1, 2020.

December 16th - Twilight Time is back with two new titles for pre-order! THE MAN FROM HONG KONG (AKA THE DRAGON FLIES / 1975) and VENOM (AKA THE LEGEND OF SPIDER FOREST / 1971). The estimated street date is Monday, January 18th.

December 15th - Screen Archives Entertainment is very grateful to Twilight Time co-founders Brian Jamieson and the late Nick Redman for allowing us to continue the Twilight Time brand with two new selections to be announced soon. Mike Finnegan and others who help Brian and Nick produce the Twilight Time blu-rays were a first-rate team. We have been fortunate to secure Mike's services to ensure we match the earlier titles quality. We have changed the final package only slightly, as many of you will recognize the outstanding graphics of designer Jim Titus. We have additional titles in various stages of production now, and hope to accelerate our release schedule in the future. Even though we started with the last release under Brian and Nick, the lead time for the production of each blu-ray is several months, made even slower under COVID. There are many complexities involved in acquiring the materials, licensing, checks, double-checks, and rechecks regarding quality before authoring and compression. And captioning. Finally, we had to find a provider to press the discs and print in the quantity that we are licensed to produce.
