Torc is an exciting new project forked from the MythTV codebase. Torc aims to modernize the hobbyist DVR by combining powerful scheduling and recording capabilities with a modern, easy-to-use, user-friendly interface. Torc aims to be fully functional on all major platforms including Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows, as well as providing media control, library browsing, and streaming capabilities on mobile platforms such as Android and iOS.
Development on Torc will be slow at first as years of legacy code are analyzed, reworked, removed, and otherwise made maintainable. Once the groundwork is laid, we expect to introduce exciting new features and polish long-neglected ones. We will endeavor to engage the user base in our development discussion, as your opinion is appreciated and wanted. While we can’t promise to implement every good idea (we’re only human after all!) we will attempt to keep the discussion positive and productive, and we’re dedicated to proving our commitment to an excellent user experience.
Torc is a wholly independent project. Though nothing is certain at this stage, it is our hope that the first release of Torc will be MythTV .25 backend compatible. Please visit us again soon to read our upcoming FAQ and regular developer update posts.
