PlayStation Plus was initially received with mixed reviews but it's starting to pick up some steam with quality free downloads and discounts. Next week will be perhaps the best one we have seen yet on the premium service. The update for 8/24 will include the following free games: Mushroom Wars, 2Xtreme (PS1) and Vempires (mini). In addition to the cool free games next week, there will also be a discount offered on Soldner-X2 which is one of the most under-rated games on PSN. There will also be free access to the TerRover demo. If you already have PlayStation Plus, make sure to download Critter Crunch, Syphon Filter and Kahoots now. These will be dropping off of "free" status when they are replaced with the new games.

Once downloaded, these games are yours to keep and play as long as you are a member of PlayStation Plus. If your subscription lapses and then you re-subscribe the games you have already downloaded will reactivate, so you still have access to them.

PSN: Sam and Max: Devil’s Playground (entire season)
minis: Vector Tower Defense, Echoes
PSOne Classic: Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee

Killzone 3 Beta Starts on October 25th: Here’s Your Chance to Get In! Posted by Victor Zuylen // Editor, Killzone Community
Yes, the Killzone 3 Public Beta Trial really is coming! Just like its predecessor, the multiplayer mode for Killzone 3 will be put through rigorous testing at the hands of the toughest, most demanding critics in existence: you, the fans. The Trial starts on October 25th and access is limited, so please read the following instructions carefully if you want to know how to secure a spot in the Public Beta:
* Be(come) a Plus subscriber
With the exception of a handful of key media partners and selected PAX feedback participants, access to the Killzone 3 Public Beta Trial is limited to PlayStation Plus subscribers. If you’re not enjoying the many benefits of Plus membership yet, now’s the time to sign up!
* Download the theme
On October 19th, an exclusive Killzone 3 XMB Theme will appear in the Plus section of the PlayStation Store. The first 10,000 Plus subscribers to download this theme (5,000 SCEA Plus subscribers and 10,000 SCEE Plus subscribers) will receive access to the Public Beta Trial.
* Check your email
After you’ve downloaded the Killzone 3 XMB Theme, you will receive an email on Oct. 25th containing the Public Beta Trial promotion code and further instructions through the address you registered as your PSN Sign-In ID. Make sure you’ve set your notification preferences to accept emails from SCE, or we won’t be able to contact you.
Those of you who make it into the Public Beta Trial are expected to provide honest gameplay feedback, report bugs and glitches, and help test our network code in real-world scenarios. In short, we’re counting on you to help us improve Killzone 3! In return you’ll get a good taste of the multiplayer mode, including its brand-new Operations game type, party system, and jetpack and exoskeleton vehicles.
And if that doesn’t convince you to take a shot at the Public Beta Trial, maybe this new trailer will: http://www.viddler.c...og/videos/1291/

Hi Guys, it’s already time to give you the first instalment of your festive December treats.
So here goes…
New PlayStation Plus Content
…You may have seen Alex’s post last month about LittleBigPlanet 2 and the amazing new game coming to PSN on 15 December: Sack Boy’s Prehistoric Moves. We thought you guys might like this so we are giving it to you completely free and one week before everyone else on PSN. New, free and early!
The second treat today is also LBP2 related. We were gutted we couldn’t give you the first LBP2 beta exclusively but to hopefully make up for it a little, we have managed to persuade the guys to extend the LBP2 beta for you Plus members. The numbers are unfortunately limited but if you have been chosen then you should have already received an email and are hopefully playing, creating and sharing as we speak.
Another treat for this month is something you have been asking for: There are two Dead Nation Avatars now available for download. Check out your exclusive ‘Hero’ and ‘Heroine’ avatars today.
And finally, today you will be able to download a selection of free Hustle Kings avatars. Download them quickly though, as they will only be on the Plus section for two weeks.
This is just the start of the December treats so keep your eyes open for another update very soon

Från blog.eu.playstation.com
"You may have heard about a game called DC Universe Online? Well we have worked hard to make sure that you guys get exclusive access to the Beta of this huge MMO Action title. All Plus members will be included and the download is being added to the Plus section of PlayStation Store as we speak – yes, that’s right now.
Due to the scale of the game, this Beta Trial will require approximately 15GB of free Hard Disk Drive (HDD) space, and can take an average of 3-4 hours to download, or potentially longer depending on your broadband internet connection. It will definitely be worth it though!
We are also giving you guys a great PSP game Add-on for free. Little Big Planet PSP Turbo! Pack, will be yours to download and keep forever today. This pack contains loads of extras for LBP PSP.
And finally, try the game Prototype before you buy as it will be in the Plus section from today as a full game trial."
DC Universe verkar intressant.

Hi guys, Just a quick update to let you know what mid-month treats we have managed to get for PlayStation Plus subscribers this time.
Firstly I wanted to let you know, if you didn’t already, that on Friday you will be able to get your hands on EA’s acclaimed Mass Effect 2 from PlayStation Store. That’s the same day the Blu-ray Disc version is being released in retail stores.
And also on Friday, if you are a PlayStation Plus member, you can download the full game trial which allows you to play the full game for 60 minutes. Not that it will take much persuasion for many of you to buy the game, those less aware get an exclusive chance to try the full game before they buy.
The next treat for you is a 25% day one discount of on the new PSN multiplayer shooter, Modern Combat: Domination.
Square off in 16-player battles across six modes and complete your objectives to rule the
Leaderboards using the PlayStation Move motion controller.
The third treat is an exclusive discount on a great little game bundle called Costume Quest on Ice. Until 2 Feb, you guys can get this bundle with a 20% discount.
Explore the quaint suburban neighbourhood, spooky mall and creepy carnival. Battle the evil overlords to rescue your kidnapped sibling then continue the adventure by exploring the monster world, Repugia. Face new enemies, collect costumes and quests. Help overthrow Araxia and bring peace back to Repugia.
We have managed to get you a new Sonic dynamic theme from the guys at SEGA. Featuring the Splash Hill zone and the iconic ‘ring’ sound when you scroll through the XMB, the theme will be on the Store for everyone to purchase but we are offering it to Plus members for free.
Finally, I just wanted to confirm on here that you guys are all going to have exclusive access to the SOCOM Special Forces Beta when it goes live. I’ll keep you up to speed on the dates when I have more info, but it’s definitely one to look forward to!
Will be back on here soon to let you know the February and March content; enjoy the rest of January.
Perfekt!
