Här kommer lite info om vad 1.7 beta1 innehåller:
New in version 1.70This version contains a new firmware for the ShowCenter Player. The update process will start automatically - please note that the firmware update will occur in two steps.
IMPORTANT: The firmware update may reset the wireless LAN settings (SSID, WEP key) of the ShowCenter Player. Please re-enter these if you have problems with your wireless connection after the first part of the firmware update.
InstallationPlease first deinstall any older version of the ShowCenter software. When prompted, decide if you want to keep your old database or not.
Important changes - please read this firstShowCenter Control (the icon located in the notification area of the taskbar) has been removed, as it is no longer necessary to specify the network adapter that your ShowCenter Player is connected to. The ShowCenter Streaming Server now automatically connects through all network adapters of your PC.
The Quickstart Assistant has been removed. The watched folder for a PCTV Vision product is now created automatically when you open Pinnacle MediaManager.
The ShowCenter application has been renamed to Pinnacle MediaManager.
The database now uses a Microsoft SQL Server engine. You may import the previous Microsoft Access MDB file using Tools/Import in Pinnacle MediaManager. This will also restore all your playlists. Please note that there are no provisions to move an SQL database back to the previous MDB format.
The ShowCenter Player user interface has a new, true-color skin. This required removing the picture-in-picture feature. Note that any of the previous skins may be selected using Settings/General/Skin.
The PDF manual file and the help files for both ShowCenter and Pinnacle MediaManager have been updated to include information on all new feature. Please make sure to take a look at them for further details.
RealNetworks Rhapsody supportRhapsody is a subscription music service by RealNetworks that gives you unlimited access to over 700,000 songs and commercial-free, user-configurable radio stations.
Please see the ShowCenter help file (Start/Programs/Pinnacle ShowCenter/Help/ShowCenter) for details on Rhapsody. For your 30-day free trial subscription, click Start/Programs/Pinnacle ShowCenter/Help/RealNetworks Rhapsody.
At the time of this release, the Rhapsody service is only available in the USA.
Support for PCTV MediaCenter productsThe Pinnacle PCTV MediaCenter 100i, 100e and 300i products are now supported by ShowCenter for viewing, scheduling and starting TV recordings. Both share the same media database and the Pinnacle MediaManager application.
Important: You must first install Pinnacle MediaCenter version 2.02 or higher before installing ShowCenter 1.70. No additional PCTV update patch is required for the MediaCenter products, but it is still necessary for PCTV products with the Vision software. Please see the section PCTV support below for more details.
Note that deleting a recording from the ShowCenter Player is not supported for the MediaCenter products.
Music playback display and album artWhen playing music, a graphical information screen now shows details on the playlist and the current, previous and next songs. Album art will be displayed if you place album art images as files named AlbumArt.jpg in the folders of your music collection. Each AlbumArt.jpg file will apply to all music files in that folder. Scanning for album art files is a background process with settings in the Pinnacle MediaManager preferences.
Rhapsody songs will also show album art from the Rhapsody server, but Rhapsody radio will not.
The music playback display options may be changed using Settings/Music options.
One-button music playbackOn the New Media menu screen, the buttons 1 to 9 on the remote control will play back music playlists or Internet radio stations that can be defined using Settings/Music options/One Button Playback. This allows you to play back music without turning on your TV set. You may want to set up your ShowCenter so that it automatically connects to a server PC. For this, select Edit Server on the server selection screen, choose your server and activate the checkbox Always connect to this server. The New Media indicator will light up when the New Media menu is shown to indicate that the ShowCenter Player has connected and is ready to accept a one-button command.
Dolby Digital soundtracks on the analog audio outputs upgradeTo enable this feature, please click Start/Programs/Pinnacle ShowCenter/Options/Activate Dolby... You will be taken to the Pinnacle online store, where you may purchase this upgrade, which will then be activated automatically.
After the activation, restart your ShowCenter Player. A new setting named Dolby Digital Output will be available under Settings/Movie options. Please select the analog audio output here.
Note that DolbyÒ Digital soundtracks are available on the digital audio outputs by default - no upgrade is necessary for this function.
Subtitle display for AVI filesSubtitle files of the formats MicroDVD ("SUB"), SubRip ("SRT") and Substation Alpha ("SSA") are now supported for AVI file playback. The subtitle files must be stored in the same folder as the associated AVI file and their filenames must be exactly identical (except for the extension). Only the Western character set is supported.
In addition, the AVI subtitle display must be turned on under Settings/Movie options.
Automatic playlists and ratingsMedia files may now be rated with zero to five stars in Pinnacle MediaManager, either using Organize or by right-clicking in the library view. All media with four or five stars is available in the auto playlist Top rated, both in Pinnacle MediaManager and on the ShowCenter Player.
ShowCenter will also keep track of how often you play each media item and generate the auto playlists Most played, Least played and Not yet played from this information.
Missing/modified media detectionWhen a media file is deleted, moved or renamed, its link in the ShowCenter database will be broken. A new background process will now detect these "missing media" and display a broken chain icon next to them in the library view. All missing media may be viewed by clicking on the Missing Media entry on the left library pane.
To restore a link, select an item, right-click and choose Repair missing media. Details of the scanning process may be configured in the Pinnacle MediaManager preferences. You may also start a scan manually by selecting Scan for missing or modified media in the Tools menu.
If you use another application to organize your music files, their ID3 tag information may get modified and no longer match the information in the ShowCenter database. Such cases are now also detected and indicated by a question mark icon. This "modified media" may also be viewed by selecting the option of the same name in the left pane of the library view. To transfer the modified ID3 tag data into the ShowCenter database, select an item, right-click and choose Update tags from file. Modified media detection is only performed for music files.
Movie seriesIf you have a lot of movies, organizing them just by movie genre may be cumbersome. This version of the ShowCenter software allows you to add a second level to movie organization, named Series.
To use the Series level, first open the Pinnacle MediaManager preferences and select Import. Here you can define how the movie genre, series and name are generated from the file and folder names when importing movies. To see the Series information in the library view, click on the browser column selection button (next to the magnifying lens button) and select a view that includes the Series item.
Music data from file and folder namesIf you organized your music by putting it into artist and album folders instead of editing their ID3 tags, you can now import this information into the ShowCenter database.
First import your music as usual using Import/Folder or Import/File. Then select the music in the library view, right-click and choose Update tags from file/folder names. In the dialog box that now appears, choose the pattern that matches the way you used file and folder names for artist, album, track number and song name. Use the up/down buttons to step through the selected music files and check that the information is interpreted correctly. If you activate Update ID3 tags in music files, the tag data of your music will also be updated to reflect the new information.
More new featuresSetting up a wireless network is now much easier with the new WiFi setup assistant of the ShowCenter Player. Please refer to the PDF manual or the ShowCenter help file for details on its operation. Note that setting up a direct wireless connection ("ad-hoc", without an access point) is now different - you must first set up the network on the PC and then let ShowCenter search for it.
The music and movie genre menus in Organize can get cluttered with outdated entries. To clean this up, select Rebuild this list in the genre menu.
The ShowCenter media database may be backed up and restored to/from an XML file through the Pinnacle MediaManager Tools menu.
ShowCenter now uses a Microsoft SQL Server database for improved performance. Note that some operations, like deleting a large number of items, can still take a long time.
File conversion settings and status are now available in the Pinnacle MediaManager preferences.
For music, the publishing year will be read from the ID3 tags and can be displayed in the library view and edited using Organize.
The tab button on the remote control now reloads the current menu page and switches the repeat mode while playing music, movies or photos.
Known issuesVOB files that have no other audio tracks except DTSÒ cannot be played
AVI files greater than 2GBytes ("OpenDML" format) cannot be played
When scheduling TV recordings, please take care that these do not overlap. Also, the "record now" feature may conflict with a scheduled recording.
For PCTV Sat, it may take several minutes after a reboot until the hardware is ready to start a recording. If you try to start a recording too quickly (or if one is scheduled), then this may result in a Vision "hardware not found" error.
The German program guide software TV Genial may crash when you try to open it. If this happens, please open the PCTV Vision application and then the scheduler window and delete all scheduled recording entries.
