För att spä på dessa -> BIZ: You told me at D.I.C.E. that on March 7, I'd be "very happy" that I'm a PlayStation 3 owner. What revelations will Phil Harrison have for us during his keynote that will make us go gaga for PS3? Care to give us some hints?
Jamil Moledina: Haha! Not to be coy but you'll just have to come to his talk James. All I can say is that I stand behind my comment regarding your future emotional state. http://biz.gamedaily...rview/?id=15366

Sony sharpens Edge for new PS3 dev tech 13:30, Feb 28th by Michael French The internal technology teams at Sony Computer Entertainment have teamed up to deliver PlayStation 3 Edge, a new set of tools for developers working on the format-holder's new console. Due for imminent release to PS3 developers, PlayStation 3 Edge has been put together by three first-party technology teams within Sony, the WWS Europe Advanced Technology Group, WWS America ICE team (a technology group based at Naughty Dog that specialises in graphics systems and tools for the PlayStation 3), and WWS America Tools and Technology group.
Edge is described as "a set of cutting edge technologies. Rather than an overarching engine, these teams have chosen to create specialized systems that demonstrate best practices of SPU and RSX utilization" in the description of a recently announced GDC session which will formally take the wraps off the new technology.
The GDC session, hosted by Mark Cerny (Cerny Games), Jon Olick (lead programmer, Naughty Dog) and Vince Diesi (principal programmer, SCE Worldwide Studios) looks at advanced graphics tools and technologies for PS3 development an will also show delegates "a unique tool for RSX performance analysis, extensively used in the tuning of first party titles". http://www.developma...ew-PS3-dev-tech

TamtataTam!!!! Playstation Home sounds like it could be an interesting, lo-fi, killer app, as described by our source.
Basically, you get to make an avatar for your console (like a Mii) and this avatar has a room. As you play games and accomplish certain tasks, you will receive items with which to adorn the room that are specific to the game (achievements). The kicker is that this is going to be a new requirement for every PS3 game...
This also sounds kind of like it could fulfill the promise Sony made at last year's GDC keynote to bring social networking to the PS3.
So we move from product based to service based, starting with packaged product augmented by downloadble content. We'll enhance this with social networks, the MySpace experience, this will be a key part of the PlayStation3 going forward. What brings it to life is the voice chat, the text chat, the video, the social features we're building in for the future.
Rooting around some recent (and not so recent) comments from Sony spokespeople, we find some things that might just validate this.
From Phil's recently published DICE interview with Newsweek editor N'Gai Croal comes this tidbit, following a discussion on the "lo-fi" approach Nintendo took with their Mii avatars:
If you are going to have an avatar which is your representative in a virtual world, it has to stand for more of your personality than some 2-D cartoons. So while I think that millions of people would be happy with cartoony looks, the planet at large probably isn't. And it's an experiment that will be played out very soon, actually.
From Dutch gaming site Next Generation Gamer comes this choice quote from an unidentified Sony rep:
We have something big coming up for the PlayStation Network, but I can't say anything about that yet. It has something to do with the Home Button on the SIXAXIS controller, and with the community.
Again, this is rumor. Our source continues to remain anonymous. Sony could be announcing the robust set of social features it has been touting for a long time, ones that go beyond voice and video chat, and tap into the collective and competitive feature sets that helped make both Xbox Live and Animal Crossing a hit with gamers. http://www.kotaku.co...home-240746.phpSå var det med den överraskningen.

Svincoolt i mina öron.

We're treating this rumour with a bit of skepticism, but user DevelopersHeart from the neoseeker forums claims to have keynote details from Phil Harrison's keynote speech at the Games Developer Conference which starts tomorrow in San Francisco.
The speech by Harrison is supposed to be happening on Wednesday, March 7, and according to these keynote details will include a lot of announcements by Sony Computer Entertainment, so lets run through them.
One of the first things we noticed was that there will be a new firmware update for North America, Japan, and Asia, with European PS3's coming pre-loaded with this latest firmware update. Here are the details of the update:
More refined PS Store front end Playstation Network integrity enhanced Wallpapers from pictures Ability to change background colors Sony Connect Store for music and movies added to the PS Store; hundreds of trailers/full films/song videos and mp3s available for download Playstation Card option in PS Store enabled Playstation Lifestyle - Similar to Myspace/Youtube; user generated content and experiences are the key and more It is alleged that the emotion chips which won't be present in European PS3's on launch will also be removed for North America and Japan in April to reduce costs, leaving all PS3s' running backwards compatibility using software emulation. The benefit of this will be the ability to upscale selected PSone/PS2 games to 1080i/720p.
There'll also be an influx of new content available on the PS Store on March 8, including:
Tekken 6 trailer Lair demo & trailer Rainbow Six: Vegas demo EA: Skate trailer Battlefield Bad Company trailer Warhawk demo Virtua Fighter 5 demo Virtua Tennis 3 demo & trailer GRAW 2 trailer Mortal Kombat 2 game Killzone trailer, with a demo scheduled for May 2007. While this extensive list cannot be confirmed, it does seem to sound quite legitimate and has been reported on all over the internet. We won't however know whether any of this is true until the GDC speech by Harrison on March 7, so stay tuned to QJ throughout GDC for the latest news!
Salt e gott.

The benefit of this will be the ability to upscale selected PSone/PS2 games to 1080i/720p. ... Killzone trailer, with a demo scheduled for May 2007.
Men jag vill gärna bli positivt överraskad.

Håller med, Home verkar riktigt clever. Some screensEn annan orginell idé är LittleBigPlanet. Perhaps the most exciting thing to emerge from Phil Harrison's keynote address was LittleBigPlanet, a game Sony reckons embodies its "Game 3.0" concept perfectly.
Developed by Media Molecule, it simply presents you with the tools to create your own entertainment. You start as a little brown creature who appears to be made out of wool, in a backyard like environment, bumbling around the place in an effort to work out how to interact with different bits and pieces. Once you've got this under control the whole experience opens up, allowing you to place different objects in your world using a cut and paste type system.
All of the objects are made out of materials, like wood, fabric and metal, and the whole game has a charming look.
The key factor for Harrison and Media Molecule is that there is no limit to what you can achieve, which was highlighted by a demonstration led by lead designer Chris Healy. The maximum of four players participated in a pre created game, the object of which was to collect the sponge resource.
Simple running and jumping soon escalated into players using jetpacks, before banding together to overcome more difficult obstacles. It was a fast a fluid demonstration that left big smiles on most people's faces.
Kanske världens charmigaste grafik iaf. "Best ART of 2007" är redan bokat!

@Ray, Seeing is believing.
