NZ8, inga problem. Postad 17 oktober 2022 - 20:50 Redigerat av mcmike, 17 oktober 2022 - 20:50. Postad 17 oktober 2022 - 21:23
Trevligt! Kommer tydligen finnas för nedladdning den 15/11. Postad 05 november 2022 - 09:30 JVC was kind enough to send me an NZ8 loaded with the new firmware on it and I've been testing it out in my home theater for the past couple of days. Technically the firmware loaded onto this NZ8 is not final code, so some changes may occur, but it should be pretty close to what gets releases later this month. I'll try and keep this short: Pros: As others have stated already, LD mode 3 is far less aggressive overall, which ultimately means less gamma manipulation is needed to compensate for the loss in light output that dimming causes. This means you're getting a reference level image more of the time as JVC isn't required to tweak the image as often as they needed to with the other laser dimming modes. And it's clear to see these improvements in the image. Colors and the tonality of the image appear more accurate now, ie truer to the source and how the video is meant to look. Highlights are also preserved far better now and the laser shuts off completely for a FFTB moment. I'll have to ask and confirm but it looks like when the laser shuts off, the phosphor going out is what creates the fade to true black. And it does this in a fast and linear way. It's a very natural looking fade into black, which is excellent. Cons: The only negative I can see is sometimes coming out of a FFTB moment, like during opening and closing credits for instance, there can be a fleeting moment where you can see a jump in brightness as the laser quickly turns back on and outputs the normal amount of light. Opening/closing credits and other content like this always seem to mess with dynamic contrast systems in general though, so I wasn't surprised to see this. The good news is that it's not as jarring as the pumping that you can sometimes see in the other modes. I'll also say that white text on an all black background like you see in credits looks better now because the white in the text is so much brighter. I would imagine subtitles will also look better now, but I haven't really tested any content with them yet. Overall LD Mode 3 seems to be a nice free picture quality improvement for those looking to use a dynamic contrast mode that is less noticeable overall, has less of an impact on the brightness and accuracy of the image, and provides true black for full fade to black moments in movies and shows. This new laser dimming mode does all three of these things well. I haven't tested much of the other things included in this firmware yet, ie Filmmaker mode, but I'll try and get to them in the coming days. Postad 05 november 2022 - 11:26 Postad 05 november 2022 - 11:56 Update JVC sent me a new update of the upcoming firmware, this is the one that is proposed for final release. They have improved the laser dimming even more with this one. Before it struggled a bit with REALLY dark material like the beach walk scene from new Game of Thrones, the helicopter ride in the end of Zero Dark Thirty and the train sequence at night in Terminator Dark Fate. This new update fixes those completely, the laser doesn't try to black out or go so dark that you can't see anything or barely make it out. ALL of the scenes I had issues with with the previous release look fantastic now with no issues. Outstanding work!
Postad 22 november 2022 - 06:16 The Frame Adapt HDR along with excellent image processing and class leading black levels and dynamic range really give the JVA DLA-NZ7 an almost insurmountable performance edge over the competition. https://www.avforums...r-review.20313/ Redigerat av mcmike, 22 november 2022 - 06:17. Postad 26 november 2022 - 13:30 My approach for a JVC is to go into the pixel adjust menu and using the full pixel adjustments take red and blue out as far as they will go in OPPOSITE directions. You may have to experiment because blue doesn't seem to move as much as red, so move it in both directions and find the one that separates it the most. Once they are both out the farthest from each other and green, bring up the internal focus pattern. Now you will see all three colors separated from each other. Focus the projector paying attention to green primarily but looking at how red and blue focus in conjunction. Green is what we are the most sensitive to, so it is the priority (there is a reason the old patterns were green) but sometimes you'll find that one click from perfect on green might be the best place to stop to get the other two their best. But you also may find that to get two colors tight one of the others isn't that great. This will lead to color fringing when you are looking at the convergence patterns. So your problem here is NOT convergence or CA, but color focus and there is nothing you can do about that (so don't try and adjust for something that isn't pixel shift related). After the focus is done go back to the pixel adjust menu and redo your alignment. If there is some fringing you should know now whether it is focus, convergence (across the whole screen) or chromatic aberration. Adjust accordingly. Also, realize that small errors are going to be completely imperceptible from more than a few feet away, so getting it perfect at the screen is a bit of a foul's errand, especially if you are doing sub pixel and engaging scaling for something you wouldn't see more than 3-4 feet from the screen. Remember, 4K is pretty much past the threshold of perception for almost every setup out there. That actually means that you have headroom in perceived resolution. You could sit at your primary seat and have someone slowly unfocus the projector and you'd be surprised how long you can go before you'd see the difference, especially with content. Test patterns represent nyquist rates, which is just not something that occurs in real content hardly ever. Compression, motion, optical loss and more mean that 4K content will rarely ever be anywhere close to what the display is actually capable of. I've shown this method to a few other calibrators and most have said they wish they had thought of this method before. It works really well for getting a great focus from the projector but also showing you immediately what pixel alignment issues you really have (focus/convergence/CA). Hope this helps.” 0 användare läser detta ämne0 medlemmar, 0 gäster, 0 anonyma medlemmar |
