The Tiny Dancer - en ny stativhögtalare från Usher

Sent i juni kommer Usher att släppa sin nya högtalare Be-718s vilket blir den första stativhögtalaren i  den välkända Dancer-serien och den har också fått smeknamnet The Tiny Dancer. Det pris som har nämnts är USD 2500 per par men vi får väl se vart det hamnar när det är dags. På den svenska marknaden lär vi troligen inte se den förrän under sensommaren/hösten. The spectacular stand-mounted Be-718s--the Tiny Dancers with a Huge Voice--features Ushers’ renowned 1.5-inch Be beryllium dome tweeters along with carbon-impregnated paper-cone midbass drivers.

The Be-718s effortlessly fill even medium-sized rooms; the integration, speed and clarity of its drivers are exceptional. Expansive, quick upper frequencies are redolent with harmonics for female vocals or the quick shimmer of brass with detail, clarity and precision. An equally quick, open and altogether seductive midrange caps deep, taut powerful and tuneful bass.

        

Our beautifully engineered Be tweeters uncover low-level details usually lost in the noise floor of less resolving speakers. Legendary Dr. Joseph D’Appolito serves as Usher’s technical consultant, providing guidance in crossover design. That results in suave, powerful, elegantly transparent sound from beautifully crafted and lustrously finished cabinets at very affordable real-world prices.

Our loudspeakers are produced with skill and pride in an ultra-modern factory in Taiwan with great attention to manufacturing efficiency and productivity, turning out beautifullycrafted speaker systems incorporating advanced technologies like the Be beryllium midrange drivers found in the Dancer Be-10 and Be-20s matching our superb beryllium tweeters.

Beryllium Domes and Symme-Motion® Technology

High performance Be beryllium ceramic diaphragms are created by heating the material to greater than 700 degrees, leaving a brittle but extremely high-strength berylla (beryllium oxide) behind. This ceramic’s enormous strength-to-weight ratio pushes the Be dome tweeter's transient response to a new and breathtaking level while minimizing distortion as no fabric-dome can do.

Those familiar with other beryllium tweeters will find the Be series’ upper frequency response especially focused, dynamic, full-bodied, grain- and glare-free. Some manufacturers take advantage of beryllium's potential above 30kHz, but Usher feels that leads to distortion. Our built in-house Be beryllium tweeter operates in its zone of optimal linearity.

       

A cost-cutting technique some use is specifying a voice coil smaller than the dome it drives, but again that creates opportunities for resonance and distortion. Our design uses a 1.5-inch voice coil that drives the diaphragm close to its outer edge for superior excursion and magnetic dynamics control minimizing break-up resonances.

Usher’s Symme-Motion® technology optimally locates the voice coil symmetrically within each driver’s magnetic field for precise control of its movements in all planes. Extra quality control ensures optimal symmetry and linearity of both individual drivers and paired speakers; drivers are matched to within 0.2dB for stereo pairs before we’ll let you have them!

The cumulative effects of Usher’s Symme-Motion® technology (featured in all models) and Be beryllium drivers are clearly demonstrated in the listening room, with supporting data from a cutting-edge distortion analyzer like the well-respected Klippel R&D System.
