Mitsubishi to Unveil HC7800D

Mitsubishi is planning to unveil a new mid-priced 3D 1080p home theater projector at CEDIA on Sept 8. This all new DLP-based projector will be rated at 1600 lumens, 30,000:1 full on/off, and 700:1 ANSI contrast. The MAP price will be $3,495.
We've had an advance look at the HC7800D, enough to pass along some initial impressions but not enough to do a full review. Two items stand out as particularly remarkable. First, the 3D image is as clean as we've yet seen. Cross talk is reduced to somewhere between negligible and completely invisible depending on how good your eyes are, and the bizarre motion artifacts that plagued many of the first generation 3D machines are gone entirely. The rapid rowing sequence in The Ultimate Wave: Tahiti looked even tighter than it did on the Panasonic AE7000, which itself is a major step in performance beyond earlier 3D projectors.
Second, the 2D to 3D conversion is remarkable. This is the first time we've seen 2D to 3D conversion that was worth the bother. Normally that conversion provides just enough increase in depth perspective to be noticeable but not enough to be impressive. As is true of all 2D to 3D conversions, the depth remains entirely behind the plane of the screen. But on the HC7800D, so much depth perspective is achieved that it begins to resemble authentic 3D rather than a conversion. We'd need to spend more time exercising it before making any final assessment, but from what we saw, this may be the first implementation of 2D to 3D conversion that I would actually use in my own theater.
If you are going to CEDIA and you are interested in 3D projection, we would suggest that you not miss the HC7800D in the Mitsubishi booth. We won't be able to get extended stick time with a review sample until after CEDIA, but we are anxious to set it up against the Panasonic AE7000 and the new units from Epson and Optoma. From what we have seen so far, the HC7800D could give the competition a serious run for the money. It is expected to ship in late November. We will have a full review of the HC7800D posted here in late September

Om det som står i cine4homes review bara är i närheten av sanningen så är iallafall jag idel öga för att ta den i beaktning.
Så pass mycket att jag kanske tom kan göra avkall för linsminnesfunktionen.

De plus jag kunde utläsa:
- 3D brillor med ny teknik (Ferroelektriska flytande kristaller) som är upp till 100 ggr så reaktionssnabba som dagens brillteknik (= de kan dra ner tiden då du tappar ljusstyrka o ta bort fenomenet som gör att ghosting uppstår) Detta är tänkt att göra ghosting till ett minne blott samt ljusstyrkan kommer väldigt nära de teoretiska 25% man kan uppnå - det pratas om ca 20% som en uppskattning vilket sägs vara ca 100% bättre än alla andra 3D projar.
- Mitsubishis optik = skärpa (ED-lins)
- 1500 ANSI - bra tryck även fär lite större dukar även i 3D (i kombo med ny brillteknik speciellt)
- optisk lens shift
- Checker board contrast 700:1 pratas det om och referensnivå på plasticitet i bilden
- Full CMS
- Läste på annat ställe att 2D till 3D interpoleringen var fantastikst bra, nästan så att det såg ut som äkte 3D material....DET hade jag gärna sett
- Efter kalibrering upnås väldigt bra resultat sånär som blått som de inte lyckas träffa perfekt
- Saknas ca 8% rött i gråskalan i förvalt läge vilket lätt kalibrerades på plats
- Väldigt bra förinställd gammakurva (2.2) men även möjlighet för perfektion via kalibrering
- 3stegs bländare utan "bildpump", men visst en native contrast på 50000:1 som JVC x30 är ju ännu trevligare
- 3D är iaf det område där de höjer den till skyarna som mest....hela för-reviewen höjer den iofs nästan så man tror de har aktier i Mitsubishi men hur som helst så verkar den synnerligen intressant i mina 3-d fanatiska ögon

Som sagt - hade de lagt på ett bildminne för aspect ratio tror jag de andra hade fått riktigt tuff...nu får de nog bara det tufft

Kollade på LGs 3D mobil igår....coolt att se 3D utan brillor och med riktigt skapligt djup i bilden
3D var dock väldigt beroende av hur (lite) man tiltade telefonen.

With completely new technology in conjunction with the glasses for 3D anyway currently superior DLP projection shows the Mitsubishi HC7800, the LCOS competition still is not unchallenged in all domains.Even this final test shows that confirm in 3D a lot of theoretical advantages, in practice: In bold colors allows the HC7800 a very high light output and combines them in 3D with an artifact free and eyes-friendliness without headache side effects. For budding 3D fans, this projector is therefore recommended that if you can get used to the glasses. Så, frågan är hur bra denna projektor är, jämfört med tex Epson TW6000/6100? Någon som sett den prestera? Börjar bli dags att köpa ny och inte riktigt hittat någon som uppfyller kriterierna ...i rätt prisklass. Använder lensshift idag så ser gärna att den nya också har det. Kört LCD förut och är lite nyfiken på DLP, ser inte regnbågarna heller så inget som stoppar (måste dock verifiera så sambon inte har problem). Osäker på 3D men generellt är det ju trevligt om den ger möjligheten. Denna kostar dryga 10 000kr nu så den hamnar definitivt bland de intressanta.

Varför är den inte populärare?

För att den har kostat för mycket för att lira med de andra i 25000 kronorsklassen tidigare?

Svårt att sägafaktiskt den skiljer sig nog en aning ifrån epsonmodellerna.Men det är inget snack om att den är ett kap för 11000 kronor.Den största begränsningen är väl att den kanske bara mäktar med att fylla moderata dukstorlekar med tillräckligt ljustryck.

Jag kör för närvarande 120" och använder en del lensshift så den passar kanske inte så bra in i setup:en som jag först trodde. Är medveten om att jag kan få kompromissa på lensshift och byta placering. Ligger och bevakar lite för att se om fler projektorer kommer ner i mitt spann eller att det släpps någon ny intressant.

Har du ordentlig mörkläggning där hemma så kan den nog funka kanske.Men inte till större än 120" dukar skulle jag tippa på!.

Hur är svärtan? Om man jämför med modeller som ligger i nuvarande prisklass?

Blivigt riktigt sugen nu när priset gått ner så pass mycket. Gäller nog att vara relativt snabb medans det finns kvar projektorer i lager.
Har varit nöjd med tidigare modeller ifrån samma tillverkare vad gäller bildkvalité så tvivlar inte på att jag kommer bli det även med denna. Självklart finns det bättre bilder, men frågan är om det finns någon som har mer "bang for the buck"
