Since I have spent many many hours coming up with and test the perfect system... for me, I thought that maybe there are some one in the same situation that I were in half a year ago. The system I put together works excellent for me and could possibly work as inspiration for someone else.

My target has been to reduce the number of boxes and cables to a minimum but at the same time have a good quality system, not the best but good enough and also to reduce the number of controls. Besides that the system needed to be simple and easy enough to use for all members of the family.

The first compromise I made was to decide that the most important thing for me was good sound when listening to music and I did not care for having cables on the floor or have to drill a lot of holes in the walls, so a system with 2 loudspeakers would be enough. Secondly since the system is positioned in the living room the computer must be totally silent.

Why I like it so much:

1.Performance a.Really good sound, not high end hi-fi but more than good enough (for me) b.Simple, even my girl friend loves it c.TV picture it is ok (no more boxes= no HD signal) when running DIV-X or DVD the quality are great.

2.One remote doubled by the keyboard a.One main volume control for all sounds b.I can also control VLC, MMP, Computer OFF, and much more with the standard remote that came with the TV, of course with some help from Tira and Event Ghost. c.The AMITECH keyboard also controls the TV so in theory I could skip the TV remote but some controls are not doubled so I like still have it around

3.The computer are totally silent a.The external power supply the heat pipe from the CPU and the relatively simple graphics card makes it possible to run the cooling fans on very low speed keeping the noise to almost zero, the only thing possible to hear are the hard-disk and CD player when running a CD/DVD.

4.Few boxes

2.DynAudio MC15 (With built in amplifiers)

3.AMITECH mini PC Keyboard

4.Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo C Modified with: a.M-Cubed external power supply b.Heat pipe for CPU c.2 additional fans + new ventilation hole in the front side part of the computer case

5.Tira 2 - IR Receiver/Transmitter (Software control - by Event Ghost)

6.Creative X-Mode Wireless - external soundcard driveing MC15 and the wireless capabilities are used for music in the Kitchen

I have been running this system for about 5-6 month now and I am really happy with it, the only thing that is bothering me is what to do next. Highlights are the silent computer the loudspeakers (I love them) and Tira togheter with EventGhost that enables a lot of functionallity.
