Ska man aveställa den då kanske? Och istället ta Toshiba HD-A20 1080p HD-DVD Player från swedisc för 500kr mer, eller är det nåt som är sämre med A20?

1080P/24 firmwaren är bara för HD-EP10 och HDXE-1 HD-E1 är endast 1080i kompatibel
går inte att ändra på, men har inte din TV stöd för 24 bilder spelar det ju ingen roll
din TV scalar väl till 1080P signal dock, som diabolo var inne på

Vad är det för typ av nätadapter man behöver köpa?

För kollar man på Amazon så går den på 310$, vilket är ungefär 2000kr. Frågan är vad tullen blir på den dock.

Från Amazon kan du inte handla nåt till Sverige, utan det är Swedisc som gäller,
HD-A20 har bara 1080 P det är det enda som skiljer mot HD-E1, och du ska ju
ha en sån till din TV alltså en HD-A20 och där får du ju med strömomvandlare
och frakt i priset hos Swedisc..

Ska du bara titta på region 1 filmer på spelaren så kör på A20, vill du kunna titta på europeiska utgåvor av dvdfilmer på din nya HD DVD spelare så köp E1 från webhallen. HD DVD är regionsfri men låst när det gäller standard dvd. Vad passar dig?

Bra synpunkt!

Dock så spelar jag upp dvd med min htpc, så där spelar det ingen roll. Hade velat ha en ide spelare till htpcn men de är "ej i lager" i alla nätbutiker av nån skum anledning.

Observera att vi drar av 4% av köpesumman vid återbetalning vilket
motsvarar bankens avgifter.

Försökte avbeställa spelaren på webhallen och då tar de 4% i avgift vilket motsvarar 120kr, får man bra bild på 1080p tv med E1 så det kanske duger med den eller blir det _STOR_ skillnad om man går upp till 1080p?

Känns som jag har en diskussion med mig själv här

Har väl så gott som trillat in i HD kriget nu (tar dock ingen ställning) tack vare priset på Toshiba HD-E1 som finns hos Webhallen.

Har dock en fundering..

Alla HD-DVD maskiner ska ju ha en ethernet ingång för att kunna ladda ner grejjer ifrån internet och visst det kan väl vara kul. Varför har de dock inte stöd för trådlös access istället (eller finns det dyrare modeller som har det ?)

Bara en liten fråga, skall det vara uppkopplat så är det väl lika bra att de gör en vettig lösning på tekniken ???

Finns det några titlar som idag använder sig utav ethernet uppkopplingen, till vilken annan nytta kan den vara ??

M2 sells HD DVD system into Japan

M2 has announced the sale of an SQ20 finishing line, to be used for both DVD and HD DVD, to Memory-Tech of Japan. The machine passed its final on-site testing in mid-June and has been running at full production capacity ever since.

Goran Lomback, president of M2 Asia Pacific, told One to One, "We are very proud to have an SQ20 installed at Memory-Tech, the pioneer of the HD-DVD format, and we are very satisfied with the performance of the machine for the production of both DVD and HD-DVD. The experience gained by working with Memory-Tech will help us in our continuing process of improving the performance of the SQ20 to make it the most versatile replication line for all DVD and HD-DVD production requirements."

Memory-Tech, one of the founders of the HD-DVD format, is a major Japanese optical disc replicator with production being carried out at multiple facilities. Its total production capacity is 60 million discs per month, of which about 11 million are HD-DVD. The SQ20 was chosen by Memory-Tech for its cost-effective production performance and the capability to switch effortlessly between the DVD and HD-DVD formats.

According to Memory-Tech, quality of the finished discs was also a major consideration when deciding on which equipment to purchase. The high demands placed on quality as a certified Microsoft replicator and main DVD supplier for the Xbox, were well met by the SQ20.

HD-DVD Combo discontinued by Warner Home Video

This may have already been posted, but I could not find it on AVS.

Beginning in January 2008, the HD-DVD Combo will be discontinued by Warner Home Video for the Theatrical New Release Business Unit. Warner will be offering the HD version only.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be the last title we are offering the HD-DVD Combo for. The Invasion will be the first HD only title on the TNR release slate.

Toshiba has begun offering six new notebooks today, four of which include HD DVD drives as standard feature. The technology is moving quickly into the mainstream with HD DVD notebooks now being offered from $1150.

Toshiba's fall model refresh transitions to Intel's Santa Rosa platform and covers the company's two consumer product lines, reaching from the entry-level Satellite to the higher-end entertainment Qosmio models.

The most economical way to purchase a notebook with an HD DVD drive now is the Satellite 7468 for $1150, which includes an Intel Core 2 Duo 5250 CPU, 2 GB memory, a 200 GB hard drive, Intel's X3100 graphics chipset and a 15.4" screen. The device is also available without HD DVD drive for $1000; if a 160 GB hard disk is enough, the price drops to $880.

HD DVD drives are now standard in Toshiba's 17" desktop replacement notebooks Satellite P205. For $1250, customers can buy the S7476 with a Core 2 Duo 5250, 2 GB memory, a 200 GB hard drive and Intel's X3100 graphics chipset. An additional $200 will upgrade the system to a 5450 CPU, a 300 GB hard drive and AMD's Radeon HD 2600 graphics chip.

If you are looking for more performance, Toshiba is offering a bit more punch in its entertainment notebook series Qosmio, which originally introduced HD DVD drives to users. The HD DVD-equipped AV425 comes with a Core 2 Duo 7250 processor, 2 GB of memory, a 300 GB hard drive, a 15.4" screen, and GeForce 8600GT GPU for a suggested retail price of $1650. The model is also available with a 5450 CPU, a 250 GB hard drive and Intel's X3100 chipset for $1300.

Best Buy, Toshiba Up Free HD DVD Titles

Despite an internal report last week that found 90% of consumers confused about high-definition, Best Buy Co. Inc., together with Toshiba Corp., has upped the ante on HD DVD.

The Minneapolis-based consumer electronics retailer is offering nine free HD DVD movies with the purchase of the Toshiba HD-A30 1080p player for $400. Best Buy also offers seven free HD DVD titles with the purchase of Toshiba’s HD-A2 1080i player for $300.

Best Buy listed the updated offer in its weekly Sunday newspaper insert.

The first five movies, as previously reported, are available by mail from a selection of 15 titles. The remaining titles, which exclude TV DVD and box set releases, are available at the point of purchase.

Best Buy, in addition to other CE retailers, also offers five free Blu-ray movies from a selection of 18 titles, with the purchase of a BD player.

“It’s a good start to a [HD DVD] collection,” said Best Buy spokesperson Brian Lucas.

He said interest in high-definition packaged media remains constant despite the ongoing format war, which he said is stifling widespread consumer adoption. As far as which format consumers are leaning toward, Lucas said interest remains evenly split.

“There are a lot of people who have decided to jump in, therefore we want to keep a good selection of hardware and software,” Lucas said. “We wouldn’t devote insert space every week to formats nobody is interested in.”

The problem is one of design. TrueHD shoots up peak rate spikes on regular basis to make it easier to seek to different packets. This means that regardless of the actual rate of the codec, you have to allocate the peak rate. This is gets to be a pretty serious problem as you go up in sample rate and resolution and partially defeats the reason one would want to use a lossless codec. We gain space efficiency but do not get anything on bandwidth side.

We don't know how DTS-MA works but it has much lower peak rate even though it encapsulates a lossy stream in addition to lossless one.

Alltså, TrueHD har blivit pushat som guds gåva av HD DVD ******s för att det är mandatory i spelare, nu får vi kanske svaret varför studios använder DD+(och varför Amir tycker att DD+ är tillräckligt), TrueHD tar för mycket på bandbredden som redan är kraftigt begränsat i HD DVD.
Det som återstår är väl DTS-HD MA antar jag, men det är ju inte mandatory

Pryportalen är ett skämt!

Att man lyckas få det till en nyhet att Lovefilm hyr ut BD/HD DVD den 2 oktober 2007 är bara pinsamt.

De är över lag helt otroligt inkometenta på den sidan. Det var ganska nyligen som de berättade om det nya formatet 16:10 för datorskärmar.

Toshiba's Vardia RD-RX7 HD DVD recorder burns HD video to DVD, too



We'd like to thank Toshiba for going the extra mile on this one to confuse consumers ever so slightly more. The company behind the HD DVD format is apparently working on a new flagship Vardia DVD / HD DVD recorder (with hard drive) tentatively dubbed the RD-RX7, which is also capable of recording HD video to, wait for it, non-HD DVD DVDs (aka regular DVDs, like the kind your mom finally just got last month). Apparently Toshiba can even fit about 2 hours of HD video onto old school DVD media with "HD Rec technology", which ain't too bad compared to the 6 hours of HD video it gets on an HD DVD. It actually kind of leaves us wondering why the hell they're insisting we upgrade to HD DVD, dunnit? Oh, and the thing also supports HDMI out with 1080p/24, not unlike the other HD DVD recorder being shown off today (about which we've little info), the RD-A201. Enjoy.

The point is actually pro-BD in that since BDA has a lot of supporters on the CE side, all they need to show is that they can produce larger discs for the same price as HD DVD and they would make huge progress in getting more studios to support them, including WB. To the extent they fail to do so, the war drags on. So we need no better proof of BD difficulties than the fact that WB still makes HD DVDs.

You saw these comments made by Paramount regarding difficulty of BD manufacturing just a few weeks ago. I know folks like to ignore that information but it is there as much as this Sony press release.

(såg aldrig inläggen som togs bort så jag vet inte vad dom handlade om) Men är det inte MOD så är det samma gäng BD-fans som inte tål att höra minsta lilla argument utan att flyga i taket och kräva att kommentaren tas bort...

Är inte säker men tror inte de skickar spelare utomlands. Bara filmer.

Ska själv över om några veckor och med det priset måste jag ju nästan köpa en spelare till. 230 x 6,50 blir ju 1.500 kr. Då får man dessutom 5+2 skivor gratis om jag minns rätt. Det blir ju runt en femhundring för spelaren.
