redeye IPaddress.
After you've written it down, please take your iOS device off of the RedEye network. You can put it on your home network.
Next, please follow the instructions below only if your serial number starts with the letter B. If it does not start with the letter B, please email me back and let me know.
First we'll need a WI-Fi capable computer (laptop or desktop). Please save the attached tf_jffs2.tgz and patch.tgz files to your computer's desktop. It must be saved in .tgz format. You must join this computer to the RedEye Wi-Fi network in order for us to proceed with the below process. It will take your computer a minute or so to fully join the RedEye Wi-Fi network. On an Apple computer you will see a gray computer or box icon where your normal Wi-Fi symbol is once it is joined.
Next, open up a web browser. Please note that for this purpose, you should only use the latest version of Google Chrome or Firefox. No other browser. Not IE, not Safari, not earlier versions of Firefox or Chrome, only the latest versions.
FOR APPLE COMPUTERS (or a PC that has iTunes installed and open. Note: This will not work on a PC without iTunes installed and open):
Type in: http://redeye_serial...aintenance.html (replacing "serialnumber" with the serial of your unit) . If this does not load try http://redeye_serialnumber.local
FOR PC:
Type in: IPaddress/setup/maintenance.html (replacing "IPaddress" with the IP of your unit. To find this, download Flame---a free App by Tom Insam----and open it while your iOS device is on the same network as the RedEye. Then, your unit should pop up with its serial number and IP. Write down the IP and use it in that URL). If this does not load, try typing in just the IP address. ***Please note: the IP address you see in your iPad's settings is not the same IP that the unit uses, so you will need to download Flame to get the proper IP.
You should see a link that says "Upgrade SW." Click this and upload the tf_jffs2.tgz file. Once the blue lights of your unit are off and remain off (this will take a few minutes), you should be able to add /setup/maintenance.html to your URL and see a different interface (I am assuming that your unit is running old firmware). Next, click "upload patch." Click this link and upload the patch.tgz file. When this is finished uploading (you'll be able to tell in Google Chrome--you should get a script kick back that says something about an XML tree; in Firefox you will get a popup asking you to save uploaddb.sh; just save it and you can discard it later) delete the application from your iPad and re-install. Please wait until the blue lights of your unit are off and stay off. Re-join the RedEye network and open the App, and it should start doing a software update. If you have any trouble with this, please let us know.
