Men möjligheten blir bra mycket större om även ni skickar mail oxå. Inte bara litar på Marveric.

Universal 'Horror' (US BD) in September

Universal Studios Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of three horror titles on 30th September 2008. Priced at $29.98 SRP each or available as part of a Halloween Starter Pack priced at $59.98 SRP are the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead, George A. Romero’s Land of the Dead and John Carpenter’s The Thing.

Paramount Planning September Blu-ray Landing for 'Iron Man'

Get ready to suit up, 'Iron Man' fans: Paramount has issued an early announcement to the trades saying it will bring the comic book blockbuster to Blu-ray in late September.

That's according to Home Media Magazine, which is reporting that the $310 million box office smash (the biggest hit of the year so far) will touchdown on Blu-ray September 30, day-and-date with the standard DVD.

No further specs or supplement details are known thus far, but given 'Iron Man's big-ticket action sequences and CGI effects, it seems poised to be one of the season's biggest next-gen hits.

At press time, Paramount has neither confirmed nor denied a release date for 'Iron Man,' but we're told the studio's official release plans are due shortly. Needless to say, stay tuned.

Constantine (US BD) in October

Warner Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of Constantine on 14th October 2008 priced at $28.99 SRP. Directed by Francis Lawrence this comic book adaptation tells the story of John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), a man who has literally been to hell and back. When he teams up with skeptical policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldly events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost.

The Blu-ray Disc looks to offer the same content as the HD DVD release from June 2006. Extras are plentiful and include:

JFK (US BD) in November

Warner Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of JFK on 11th November 2008 priced at $34.99 SRP. Oliver Stone’s powerful film about the mystery surrounding the Kennedy assassination stars Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Bacon, Gary Oldman, Jack Lemmon, Laurie Metcalf, Sissy Spacek, Joe Pesci, John Candy, Walter Matthau, Sally Kirkland, Donald Sutherland and Edward Asner.

The Blu-ray Disc features premium hardcover book packaging with press material and photographs from the film. The disc includes the director’s cut of the film and all of the extras from the 2-Disc Special Edition DVD release. The new documentary featured as part of the UCE DVD release out the same day is not included on the Blu-ray release.

The Weinstein Company is bringing George A. Romero’s “Diary of the Dead” to Blu-ray in time for “Halloween”

The Weinstein Company (distributed through Genius Products) plans to release horror legend George A. Romero’s “Diary of the Dead” on Blu-ray Disc this October 21st. No details yet on the tech specs of this release but judging from their currently planned titles I’d say it should be getting BD-50 AVC MPEG-4 treatment and possibly Dolby TrueHD 5.1 but likely only Dolby Digital. Stay tuned to this post, we’ll let you know when the pre-order listing is available on Amazon and more details surface on the release itself.

On the subject: The Weinstein Company apparently does have plans to bring out Rob Zombie’s remake of “Halloween” to Blu-ray the very same day as this latest Romero film — October 21st. Also a week later on October 28th the company plans to release the 2008 film “Hell Ride” Directed by (as well as starring) Larry Bishop and co-starring Dennis Hopper.

Black Mask (US BD) in September

Lionsgate Home Entertainment have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of Black Mask on 2nd September 2008 priced at $29.99 SRP. Jet Li stars in this Hong Kong martial arts action thriller. The film follows the Black Mask after his harrowing escape from the secret, superhuman, commando unit known as Squad 701. Upon taking a new identity as a quiet librarian named Tsui Chik, his life of normalcy is shaken when a murderous rampage against all of Hong Kong’s drug dealers is linked to Squad 701, forcing him to return as the Black Mask to stop the campaign of murder before it’s too late.

Specific region coding information is unknown beyond the obvious Region A compatibility.

Starz plans to release a prequel to the upcoming EA game “Dead Space” on Blu-ray Disc this October
Starz is planning to release the computer animated “Dead Space: Downfall” to Blu-ray Disc on October 28th which serves as a prequel for the upcoming EA (Electronic Arts) video game “Dead Space” — slated to be released a week earlier on PS3 (oddly enough). Undrar om det finns planer på att släppa även Diamonds are for Ever (Diamantfeber) ?

At the Comic Con Futurama panel, Fox showed some new footage for the forthcoming feature-length DVD, Bender’s Game. The trailer included riffs on high “dark matter” (i.e. gas) prices (with “Mom” playing the role of the evil oil companies), and some Futurama characters playing Dungeons and Dragons, then being transported to a Dungeons and Dragons-like world. There’s also a clear parody of The Lord of the Rings films.

The movie will be released on Blu-Ray (a first in Futurama history!) and DVD on November 4th, 2008. This post will be updated later with the some art for the movie, but in the meantime, mark your calendars for this series’ next great installment!

Är Batman filmad på 65mm så borde det bli riktigt bra bild på Bluray-releasen. Den förra filmen (på HD-DVD) var inte
speciellt imponerande. Halvdan upplösning.

Se bara på den gamla 2001: A Space Odyssey som också är filmad på 65mm. Själva filmen kan man ju tycka vad man
vill om, men bilden är imponerande med tanke på åldern... 40 år.
