Disney: 'Narnia,' 'Nemo' and 'Sleeping Beauty' Coming to Blu-ray in 2008

The sort of announcement you'd expect to be made at CES (and not in the dead of August), Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has issued a press release previewing four of its top Blu-ray titles for 2008.

Referenced in the release for the first time publicly are upcoming Blu-ray releases for 'Sleeping Beauty' (Disney's first classic animated title to hit next-gen disc), 'Finding Nemo,' 'National Treasure,' and 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.'

Though exact street dates have not yet been announced, the studio has provided seasonal guidance for all four titles, and promises each will push the boundaries of what has been seen so far on the Blu-ray format.

First up in the Spring of 2008 will be the recent family hit 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,' which is slated to among the first Disney titles to include Picture-in-Picture bonus content.

Next, in the Summer of '08, the studio plans to debut its first BD-Live Blu-ray Disc title, the action-adventure blockbuster 'National Treasure.'

The Fall will see the release of two highly anticipated animated titles -- Pixar's 'Finding Nemo,' and -- in what promises to be a milestone release -- 'Sleeping Beauty,' which will be the first Blu-ray title to bear the studio's "Platinum Series" banner.

"The Platinum titles are the crown jewels of the Disney Studios and we do not take releasing them lightly on any format," said Bob Chapek, President of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. "The proven Blu-ray technology has allowed us to take our films to new heights, fully utilizing the larger capacity and interactive capabilities for an incredible all-new consumer experience."

The 'Sleeping Beauty' Blu-ray is slated to include a "Virtual Castle" and multi-player activities -- both utilizing BD-Live technology.

Next summer may seem a long way off to those anxious to see Disney's first BD Live title, "National Treasure," but the first stand-alone BD players offering that technology are expected to be introduced early next year following players with the capability to play advanced BD-J interactivities like full motion PiP late this year.

The Studio announced the first animated Platinum coming to Blu-ray will be the timeless treasure Sleeping Beauty. Releasing Sleeping Beauty on Blu-ray marks a milestone for the format as these titles are not released until a format has been proven both technologically and in terms of consumer acceptance – and Disney’s animated releases in the past have been a major catalyst for any format’s growth. Pinocchio’s release on VHS and Snow White’s release on DVD marked major growth milestones for both of those formats. Disney shows off Cars' interactive features in trailer




Those patiently awaiting November 6th can now tide themselves over a bit, as Disney has released a trailer that actually shows off some of the much-anticipated bonus features that will reside on the Cars Blu-ray disc. Oldboy Delayed to November; Specs Announced

Tartan Video has revealed that their first US Blu-ray release, 'Oldboy', has been delayed from its original October 23rd release date until November 6th. The movie will come in an unrated form on a BD-50 (some extras on the packed-in DVD). Video will be encoded using AVC and feature a Korean DTS-HD audio track. Extras include numerous commentaries, deleted scenes, featurettes, a documentary, and trailers.

Enligt prisjakt: https://www.prisjakt...kt.php?p=212137 så står det iaf: Spider-Man Collection 3-disc

Spider Man 3 verkar finnas i lite olika rellar, både single-disc och 2-disc edition.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced 'Spider-Man 3' will be available on Blu-ray Disc October 30, day-and-date with the standard DVD debut. In addition, 'Spider-Man,' 'Spider-Man 2,' 'Spider-Man 2.1' and 'Spider-Man 3' will be available in a 3-disc 'Spider-Man High Definition Trilogy' collection.

Borde ju finnas nån länk till pressreleasen från Sony, någon?

Edit: har även sett att det skall vara en 4-disc variant (Spider -Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 2.1 samt Spider-Man 3)

Riktigt bra pris! Är ju nästan så att man har lust att lägga in en beställning bara pga detta, trots att jag personligen tycker att 2:an och 3:an var "ena" riktiga kalkoner.

Enligt blu-ray.com så skall den amerikanska releasen ha premiär den 30 oktober och av specen att döma vara en 4-disc box. Vad som är intressant är att den kostar 64.99USD på pre.order hos Amazon.

Undra vad som skiljer den amerikanska rellen mot eu rellen?
