Inte en chans att jag säljer mina HD DVD filmer!! Varför skulle man göra det?? Det är väl lika bra bild och ljud som vanligt och det kommer ju inte förändras, trots att formatet nu går i graven?! Så folk som säljer alla sina HD DVD för att köpa om dessa (!) på BD, förstår jag mig inte på alls...

Ta Matrix som exempel, grym bild och HD-ljud + massor av extramaterial och finns fortfarande endast till HD DVD! Skulle jag då sälja min "Ultimate collection" för en spottstyver och sedan köpa om denna, för en betydligt högre slant, på BD?! Nooooo wayyy...

Paramount Home Entertainment have announced the UK HD DVD release of Into the Wild on 10th March 2008 priced at £24.99. Directed by Sean Penn, Into the Wild tells the true story of Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch). Freshly graduated from college with a promising future ahead, McCandless instead walked out of his privileged life and into the wild in search of adventure. What happened to him on the way transformed this young wanderer into an enduring symbol for countless people -- a fearless risk-taker who wrestled with the precarious balance between man and nature.

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton join forces again in a big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's award-winning musical thriller "Sweeney Todd." Depp stars in the title role as a man unjustly sent to prison who vows revenge, not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter. When he returns to reopen his barber shop, Sweeney Todd becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who "shaved the heads of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard from again." With the recording of their live DVD, Showtime, at the Pumpwerk in Wilhelmshaven on 13 May 2005, the British band UFO repeated music history, so to speak. For the second time since 1979, when the group brought out their legendary live album, Strangers In The Night, the band members left no doubt that their shows count among the best in the whole rock circus. Then as now, press and fans were unanimously impressed, and the band established a reputation that remains unchallenged to this day: UFO are unbeatable live! UFO’s success story began in London way back in 1969, when vocalist Phil Mogg, drummer Andy Parker, guitarist Mick Bolton and bassist Pete Way formed the group, borrowing the band name from a legendary London music club. Even in the Seventies, the band distinguished themselves with their very own, unmistakable style, touching a nerve among their growing following with rock numbers like ‘Prince Kajuku’, ‘Follow You Home’ or ‘C’mon Everybody’ from their albums UFO 1, Flying and UFO Live.

The global breakthrough arrived when German guitarist, Michael Schenker, joined the fold in 1973, having left his band Scorpions to follow an offer by Phil Mogg and Pete Way. UFO released three consecutive rock classics with Schenker (Phenomenon (1974), Force It (1975) and No Heavy Pettin’ (1976)), featuring classics like ‘Doctor Doctor’, ‘Shoot, Shoot’, or ‘Rock Bottom’. Following the arrival of keyboarder/rhythm guitarist Paul Raymond, UFO released their two studio albums Lights Out (1977) and Obsession (1978), including the hit singles ‘Too Hot To Handle’, ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Only You Can Rock Me’. Their live cut Strangers In The Night came out in 1979 and is referred to by the press to this day as one of the best live releases of all time, while also signalling the end of the Mogg, Way, Schenker, Parker & Raymond line-up.

The reorganised band underwent fifteen years marked by various eras and numerous line-up changes. To everyone’s surprise, autumn 1993 saw the return of the former UFO line-up consisting of Mogg, Way, Schenker and Raymond. This new edition of the classic team brought out Walk On Water, their first joint effort after one and a half decades, and embarked on a world tour. However, Schenker left UFO during the Walk On Water tour again to continue working with his own group, MSG, while Mogg & Way went on to release their second album, Chocolate Box. The UFO albums Covenant and Sharks, recorded by Mogg, Way and Schenker, arrived at the stores in 2000 and 2002. Vinnie Moore went on to follow in Schenker’s footsteps, who had returned to MSG, recording the songs on You Are Here with Jason Bonham. During the subsequent world tour, UFO cut a show in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, which was released on the live album, Showtime, and the same-named DVD featuring additional bonus material. Later, Bonham left the band and was replaced by UFO’s original drummer, Andy Parker, who also recorded the drum parts on the current studio album, The Monkey Puzzle.

It's a shame that the death of the HD DVD format will cause many fans to abandon this eleventh hour, technical masterpiece.

Paramount Cancels Majority of HD DVD Slate (UPDATED)

UPDATE 6:45pm: We've received word from Paramount that DreamWorks Animation will also follow its studio parent and end HD DVD support. DreamWorks Animation sole remaining HD DVD release, 'Bee Movie' (originally scheduled for March 11) has been cancelled. We've updated our database accordingly.

Ending weeks of speculation, Paramount says 'Into the Wild' and 'Things We Lost in the Fire' will be its last two HD DVD releases.

Although the studio has yet to issue a formal statement, when asked to confirm retail reports that it had canceled the majority of its upcoming HD DVD slate, a Paramount rep told us that following the next week's HD DVD releases of 'Into the Wild' and 'Things We Lost in the Fire,' the studio will no longer issue any further titles on the format.

According to a just-published article in The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is expected to release its first new Blu-ray titles this summer.

Paramount (and its subsidiary DreamWorks) had nearly a half-dozen HD DVD titles scheduled for release through early Spring. Here is a complete list of the studio's previously-announced titles that have now been cancelled:

March 25: 'The Jack Ryan Collection,' 'The Kite Runner'
April 1: 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street'
April 15: 'There Will Be Blood '

Although Paramount stressed to us that their confirmation today did not cover titles released by the independently-owned DreamWorks Animation, Video Business is reporting that the studio's only currently scheduled HD DVD title 'Bee Movie' has also been canceled. At press time there was no official comment from DreamWorks Animation.

Needless to say, we'll keep you posted on further details of Paramount/DreamWorks transition to Blu-ray as they're announced.

BD eller HD , jag börjar tröttna lite på Paramount de ligger ju en aningens efter i katalog releaser
jämfört med WB och Universal!!

Massa titlar som blivit uppskjutna. De stackare som inte fick tag i nån Jack Ryan Box
blir ändå blåsta, och allt jobb de gjorde som drog tillbaka boxen och tryckte upp
nya fodral osv !!

Om du ändrar ditt antagande till "det finns inga/för lite pengar att tjäna på HD DVD titlar" eller till "det finns mer pengar att tjäna på att bara ge ut Blu-ray titlar", så blir det kanske lättare att förstå. Oberoende av vilket antagande som är korrekt så kan vi nog vara överrens om att filmbolagen gör det som de tror genererar störst vinst.
