Hur tror du det känns när man betalat för 3st HD DVD spelare.

Jag vägrar tro det är över än. Kommer forsätta köpa filmer tills det inte finns att hitta längre i en kinesik pirat hörna.

ps. l.ägger du ut videon på youtube? om du menade allvar med att bränna dom altså, hähä, säkert flera intressanta youtube klipp följt av den här nyheten ute redan.

ja har en del WB som kan bli fin fint 2:a hands värde på senare, men det är så grymma
menyer på HD DVD osv så dem kommer behållas, jag bryr mig inte för 5 öre

Känns iofs lite dumt att jag köpte en A35 och en Samsung BD-P1400 (region A) igår.
Har PS3 (region B ) sedan innan.
Iofs är $350 med 5 filmer för en A35 är inte så blodigt.

Ja är ju som sagt neutral i frågan. Har båda formaten.
De enda ja blir lite ledsen över är att formaten som förespråkar regionsindelning vinner.
Nu när HD-DVD kanske försvinner så kanske bolagen kommer köra hårdare med att regionsindela sina släpp.

Men men förhoppningvis så kanske hacken till spelarna kommer snabbare oxå.

New Line är med i dealen med Warner, så Sagan om ringen filmerna kommer att släppas exklusivt på Blu-ray när det är dags.

"Warner will be joining other BD-exclusive suppliers Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Walt Disney Home Entertainment, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Lionsgate. Time Warner divisions New Line Home Entertainment and HBO Video are also included in the move to Blu-ray."

Nothing is set in stone, but The Dark Knight will be exclusive to Blu-ray and stuff like 300 after March will also be exclusive to Blu. I think I Am Legend could end up in the neutral pile, but again, it won't be D&D and it will only be in limited quantities for those hold-outs like Lee Stewart and rdjam.

It wasn't really, but there have been talks and outlines had been made all the way back in September for this move. WB going Blu was not a rush job like Paramount, it was very well thought out and executed, if not for Lionsgate's Burns, we could have had this wrapped up a bit earlier...

WB will continue to release HD DVDs but not in any sort of timely fashion...

In May WB will no longer be shipping any HD DVDs to their distributors.

From March, any HD DVD that has sold out will not be be replicated again. So if anyone wants to pick up a few of these 'collectors items' get them now!

Det är snart när vi har ett format som fler kommer att våga köpa HDM (Blu-ray). Nedladdningar ligger långt in i framtiden. Sedan kommer det en dag då alla spelar på marknaden spelar Blu-ray och då är det inte ett svårt beslut.

Blir nog för min del att ta det lugnt med filmköp framöver. Vill inte gå tillbaka till dvd och eftersom jag har xbox360 så känns inte PS3an nödvändig förutom blu-ray. Vill hellre ha en stand-alone spelare. Och för tillfället tycker jag dom kostar lite för mycket innan det är givet att HDM verkligen kommer vara framtiden

Warner: No Payoff for Move to Blu-ray

Kevin Tsujihara, President, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group says the studio took no pay-offs to exclusively back Blu-ray.

In a post-announcement conference call, Tsujihara flatly denied rumors that studio had accepted anywhere from 250M to $500M in exchange for dropping its HD DVD format support.

According to the exec, Warner's sole motivation in dropping its HD DVD format support was to ensure growth of the "category" and the long-term health of the industry.

"The packaged media business is a $42 billion dollar business worldwide at the retail level, and we [Warner] have the largest market share of anybody," said Tsujihara. "From our perspective, the most important piece of this whole puzzle is, "How do we get growth back into this category?" That far outweighed anything else."

This [decision] was one hundred percent around what makes the most sense for the consumer, the retailer and the industry. This was not a bidding war. This was all about what was best, strategically, for us."

Though it's widely expected that Warner Bros. subsidiaries New Line and HBO will follow Warner Home Entertainment to Blu-ray exclusivity, for the moment they remain format-agnostic.

That's according to Warner Home Entertainment President Kevin Tsujihara, who said that the studio's announcement that it would drop HD DVD support does not extend to titles released by New Line, HBO or the BBC (which Warner distributes here in the US).

"They'll be making whatever decision they're going to make," said Tsujihara. "I assume they'll let people know very quickly, but they are not covered by this initial announcement."

Riktigt, riktigt skönt om nu formatkriget skulle vara avgjort (vilket det ju verkar vara enligt de flesta) tycker jag! Om HD på skiva ska slå igenom stort kan det helt enkelt inte finnas 2 olika HD-format. Jag tror att många (inkl mig innan jag skaffade en PS3) blir avskräkta av att välja mellan HD-DVD och Blu-Ray som ju har exlusiva filmer på respektive format. Visst är det häftigt med HD-bild/ljud, men att inte ha möjlighet att se vissa HD-filmer, vilket format man än väljer, överskuggar nog det fantastiska med högupplöst. Många väntar nog på ett avgörande och kör på med sina gamla DVD-spelare så länge.
Om nu avgörandet är här och priser på film och hårdvara sjunker ytterligare några snäpp, tror jag att kommande år kommer bli välidgit... ja, högupplöst.
Jag flundrade faktiskt på att komplettera min PS3 med en Toshiba HD-DVD-spelare nästa löning men jag tror jag lägger det på is så länge, haha,
Men jag tänker inte tro att formatkriget är över förän HD-DVD-lägret har erkännt sig besegrade. Vem vet vad "de röda grabbarna" kan hitta på?
Jag tycker att ni som köpt en HD-DVD ska vara lite glada iallafall för i det långa loppet tror jag det här gynnar HD på skiva. Risken hade annars blivit att båda formaten skulle dö och vi skulle bli tvingade att gå tillbaka till DVD igen (hemska tanke).

...And our sources are now telling us that Universal - knowing Warner was about to go Blu-exclusive - has already begin taking steps to prepare for their own future Blu-ray efforts. Our guess is that Universal in particular will go format neutral, to put the best P.R. spin on their situation. But we'd be VERY surprised if all three studios don't announce their own Blu-ray Disc support by mid-2008 at the latest, so as benefit from 4th quarter holiday sales. In fact, we're betting those announcements happen much sooner...

Warner Swayed By $500 Million From The BDA

According to a trusted source that was close to the negotiations, Warner and FOX were working on a deal to go Exclusive to HD DVD as recent as last week. Our source tells us that Warner was only willing to go to HD DVD if FOX would go with them. Their thinking was if they just went to HD DVD by themselves, it would not end the format war. Early this week FOX was paid an undisclosed amount to remain exclusive to Blu-ray. With the FOX deal falling through, Warner had no choice but to accept the BDA’s $500 Million offer to go Blu-ray exclusive. We do wonder if FOX was just playing the HD DVD side, while having no intentions of ever switching.

CES HD DVD Event canceled due to Warner announcement

HD DVD is in trouble

If there is one thing that everyone is agreeing on, it is that the HD DVD is in trouble due to the Warner announcement. This decision to cancel the HD DVD press event further proves that the defection of Warner Brothers studios from the HD DVD camp is a major blow.

I am very disappointed that they have canceled the event. I would have liked to see them try to explain this move or attempt to put some type of positive spin on it. I guess I will only be attending the Blu-ray CES event this year! Stay tuned to this site for CES 2008 coverage!

Just to clarify, if in fact there was a "deal", the BDA as an organization can not and would not enter into any sort of business arrangements of this nature. A "deal" would have to be between Warner and one or more companies acting independently of the BDA.
